Well, speaking of '88, the great Board-O recommended a place in NY that I'm dining at next week. I have been communicating with Sal at this restaurant and have been advised they have '88 Pol Roger Winston Churchill on their list for less than $200.

I'm thinking he will have at least 6 less in his inventory this time next week. Big Grin

Life is good!

I just stumbled across some 1996 Veuve Clicquot Grande Dame at my Costco for $104.95. I have never had a vintage Champagne. I am really tempted to try it. . .

Snap those up. Good price for a very good wine! Drinking well now, by all accounts, if you want to try one and see if they're worth it to you. But they'll get better with more time.

I had the 96 VC GD last night. Much more mature than it should be. Quite good! In a good spot but if you buy it, drink it within a year. Wonder why it's mature so fast. The 1990 VC GD doesn't taste this mature as of today.

Back up the truck.

That is an excellent price for an excellent Champagne.

I agree that unlike many other '96s, it is good to go. (Though I dissagree that you need to drink it within the next year.)

Thanks for the responses. I think I am going to grab one to try. I want to wait until the 1st, but they didn't have too many. . .

If I stumbled across those at my COSTCO at that price their wouldn't be a single one left after I checked out.

You guys are killing me. I think I would be letting everyone down if I didn't grab at least one.

I guess what I meant to say is that its declining pretty fast and will not get any better, thus drink sooner than later. I liked it much better upon release. It will last longer than a year but it won't be any better.
