Ok.. I just made a guranteed purchase of 10 cases (6 bottles in wood) of 04 Bodegas Lan
(L.E.) WS 96....Purely for selling to the masses when this wine hits the WS top 10 for 2007....Either my boss will force me to do a tasting perspective for all the Arbor Mist products or I will get a night off to enjoy this wine with a special friend. Hmmmmm.
Any thoughts ....I think its a good bet.

I don't know. Ask all the people sitting on cases of Schild from last year...... Roll Eyes

I'm sitting on cases of Schild and La Tour Blanche from last year. But I bought them to drink rather than flip, so I'm not unhappy. Speculating on what WS is going to do for profit is a risky business.

I swear they kept Schild and LTB off of the top 100 to spite people because of the amount of speculation!

Oh God!!! I bought that one too. I sold it off
for a $10 loss...But Lan (L.E.) has been on the list in previous years....OK...I will just accept the Arbor Mist "project' and move on....
AHHHHHHH!!!!

WTH do you lemmings buy cases of wine purely on speculation that you might score big when the WOTY is announced?

If you are truly only motivated by profit which is your only motivation when you make posts like this...and don't B.S. me otherwise.

Buy what you truly liked during the year in as large of quantities as you can afford and then when the announcement is made if you happen to have it flip. Otherwise, buy a case the morning of at slightly higher than current prices and you'll still make a decent margin.

Flip it baby.

Rather you cannot understand..because you have been smoking your ceramic Jesus bong again with some Yellow tail Shiraz slurp at the bottom..
Just face it....Wine can ...Hmmm? Perhaps make some profit if marketed correctly... Are you willing to bet me..of the existance or non-existance of this wine on the top 100 list for 2007....AHHUMM..I didnt ..think so.

Isn’t the case production of this typically around 1,500 cases? This would be too low under the current trend back to slightly higher production wines for the no.1 position, but should easily make the Top100 and probably the Top 10.

Nevertheless, it’s usually a very good wine for the price. So unlike gambling your money in the stock market or Vegas, you still have a good value wine if you lose your bet.

BTW, where did you get the score for this? I don’t see it in the Insider, Advance or the WS database. Do retailers get scores before readers do?

I have a good stash of the LTB. Bought on futures long ago.

No Schild. Haven't had it but probably not my cup of tea..... Cool

Trust your judgment and run with it. You should know your clients better than anyone here. After all, those Arbor Mist drinkers can be quite discerning. I do hope you develop a better sales presentation than your current "WS 96, kick ass wine, WS #7, buy it". Otherwise, what we may have here is a failure to communicate all the lovely attributes of this wine that you appreciate so highly just in case it does not rank as high as you are speculating.

Good luck and if you are incorrect, you will receive one day in the box.

I assume you're talking about the Schild here, so let's add this up. You work for retail so can get wines at wholesale I presume. Wholesale should be less than the $20 PC was charging. You sold it off for a $10 loss, which means you sold it for less than $10?????? Not bad for a 96 point wine. Some of the ebob faithful even liked it.

You have to admit it's a little ironic that people are bashing the wine spectator score sales presentation. 9 out of every 10 posts on here mentions a score. It might not matter to you or I but does matter to the masses.

winegirl58,
keep those Canandaigua sales up! LOL

Buy em up. Probably cost you under 2 thou? When they turn out to be this years red herring I'll buy a couple off of you. I'd vote for, and rather have a case of, 2004 Ornellaia.
How does Arbor Mist figure in?

Thanks everyone for the support..I admitt I probably did jump in too big...but this wine does have a better history than Schild...(It has been on the list twice)
If I am wrong than its still a great wine with or without 96 pts. It will sell despite the list. It always does..Now if I could find some
Clos des Papes hiding somewhere...
