Wine.com has got to be nervous about this news... “What is the soup du jour?"...It’s the soup of the day..."Mmmm, that sounds good, I’ll have that” - Lloyd Christmas |

Yes and I think they are serious. They are already staffing up with people that know wine. This past weekend, I met one of them at the CT weekend. She came from Christie's with an intermediate stop in between. We talked about the importance of provenance should they get into older vintages. Amazon is up to it. We shall see how they execute.

Interesting. Will keep an eye for this.
Something tells me, however, that this will be a real challenge for them to compete effectively against some of the other sites (and frankly, I consider wine.com not in that category). The other side of this, though, really reflects on just how big the market is getting for retail wine sales via the internet. It's caught the eye of a major player. |

Yeah and welcome to being hounded by the tax man for the sales and use tax on those out of state products. A little store in Orange Cty may not be big enough to bother, but Amazon is.
But question - didn't they try to do this before? http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/222777_amazon04.html What happened to that? |
