Without a doubt the single most romantic cd I have in my collection is the collaboration of the great jazz saxophonist John Coltrane and the singer Johnny Hartman. The versions of "My One and Only Love" and "Lush Life" are the standards by which all other interpretations are to be measured. John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman on the Impulse label, a must have for anyone with even a passing interest in jazz, the great American art form.
So what music will you be playing to romance the pants off of your sweetie this weekend?

CW, I've got several of the Ella songbook series including the Cole Porter and the Gershwin Brothers discs. She is a wonderful singer well suited to the canon of American standard music.

Jazzz, she's into Billie Holiday and Miles Davis. We won't get to spend V-day together, but if we did, I'd probably break out a bottle of Tokaji and some gypsy music with dessert.

Nina Simone works wonders too if you like old school jazz.

Good question - I have a couple of CDs that should do the trick.

Cinema Paradiso - Sountrack from the movie
One of my favorite movies, and one of my favorite soundtracks.

Bill Evans - Potrait in Jazz
A bit more cereberal choice for V-Day, but 'When I Fall in Love' and 'Someday My Prince Will Come' are some of the more romantic songs, though the whole CD is pretty 'radio-friendly.' His 'Autumn Leaves' is the definitive version of the song. End of story!

Stacey Kent - Dreamsville or In Love Again
One of the best jazz singers out there today. Very whimsical and romantic. Perfect diction of the standards.

Joe Pass is also an awesome solo jazz guitarist, and his CDs would be great for V-Day. Norah Jones and Diana Krall would be great choices as well.
