An area store has been featuring the wines of a vintner by the name of Dillmann (Pfalz is the appellation) at what appear to be blowout prices – an '05 Trockenbeerenauslese at ~ $15 for a 375, a Gerwurtzraminer for about $10, an '04 eiswein for less than $15. I've never heard of Dillmann. Has anybody here had experience with this winemaker? I haven't had much luck finding scores/reviews of these wines. I was tempted to buy the Trockenbeerenauslese but even $15 would be too much if the wine isn't any good.

Never heard of them. Sounds like a broker who has picked up and bottled some surplus wine. A TBA for $15? Cough syrup might be better. Is there any village/vineyard designation?

Hmm... that looks like Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, not Pfalz.
Apparently there is some 'Erwin Dillmann' making wine in the Pfalz region, could not find any further info though, it is not even mentioned in a german wine guide.
At that price i think i could not resist getting a TBA and Eiswein.

A Gewurtz for $10 to boot sounds awfully odd. Iv'e never seen nor heard of these wines. Something seems funny.

I had a Dillman (maybe I mispelled it). Costco sold these very cheap and I never bought one. Someone showed at an offline with it and it was fantastic. At least try one and if they are as good as the one I had, stock up.

Spo,

Thanks for the link to the note. That appears to be the same TBA that I am referring to. I did not previously see your TN because I spelled it "Dillmann" when I did my search. For $15/375 I am definitely going to give it a try.
