Dok, I've got all those bottles in my cellar, but the vintages are much younger. I can't wait to have a 20 year old Ceretto Barb or a 17 year old Shafer cab. Very nice drinking. What foods did you pair these wines with? I'm guessing red (rare) meat.

The 1986 Ceretto Barbaresco Bricco Asili Bricco Asili is delicious. Much better than the vintage might otherwise dictate.

At Gkapoor’s house last night:

2000 Château Pontet-Canet – Really nice 92-94ish
2000 Château Smith Haut Lafitte – Solid 90-92ish
1994 Seavy Cabernet Sauvignon – Nice, but bottle seemed slightly off compared to the bottle we had last week.

The 2000’s were actually drinking surprisingly well after some air time. Nice fruit, not overly tannic or dry. Both showed really well. Thanks to Mr. Kapoor for hosting.

My first Rose of the year:
08 Chateau Routas Coteaux Varois Rouviere - $12.
Pretty salmon color that I'm going to pair with salmon for dinner.

G, I rated both of the 2000's quite lower then what you have indicated above. However, I would agree with your ratings after the wines do mature.

Shaferguy: The '92 HSS was still remarkably youthful, with plenty of fruit and beautifully integrated tannins. It still has some years left in it to enjoy.

MZ: The Ceretto Barbaresco Asili was stellar. Somewhat of a "light weight" in the company of Pauillac, Cali, and the dead arm. Holding up well, but it's a drink now.
