We're headed to the CA Wine Country this spring. Any suggestions on special picnic areas in parks or wineries? We've done and like Rutherford Hill.

Hey Amfpv

My wife and I are still searching for the ultimate dinner picnic spot. We usually spend 3 nights in NV and breakup the big meals with one dinner picnic but have yet to find a great spot with great views and NO "no trespassing" signs.

Lunch - a nice, quiet spot all to yourselves at St. Clement. St. Clement will let you picnic if you buy a bottle of Chard-SB from them.

Lunch or dinner - Lake Hennessey has some benchs by the shoreline. Ok, not a perfect place but at least legal.

Rutherford Hills - we went there about 6PM one night but, the open gates started closing after we entered. I chickened out thinking we could get stuck there and left. Has anyone gone here after hours for a dinner picnic?

Domaine Mumm when the gate is open for a dinner picnic. Nice sunset view of vineyards but not a perfect place because of the unwelcoming "no trespass" signs.

Anyone have some good dinner pincic spot suggestions with great views?

Pride!Pride!Pride!

A meal is not a meal without wine; thus I skip breakfast.

To my knowledge, Phelps & Pride would only be available for a daytime picnic and not after 4:30PM. Correct?

La Famiglia Mondavi has a good Picnic area in the hills over Oakville. Nice views, god Bocce area, just request you buy a bottle of wine. Get a chilled bottle of the Moscato Bianco. Low alcohol, and more consistent then the rest of thier offering.

I agree that V. Sattui is very nice, and convenient with the store right there, but will get very crowded.

YES! Pine Ridge is extremely nice. They ask that you drink their wine... but most places do. And they have some nice stuff. Plus, it's a short drive from the Oakville Grocery (a great place to buy your picnic food).
