If you open it on the spot with the giver, would you feel obliged to have a glass? Not a position I would want to put myself in if it's not something I would drink.

I do it to you all the time with white Burgundy and Italian wine at offlines. Smile

This bottle never makes my cellar. It goes into my wine fridge, then later returned to the LCBO in exchange for a bottle of Sambuca or grappa.

Of course I would have a glass! Let me qualify that without hypocrisy. There are some things that all of us do without a "true" enjoyment. Sometimes what is more important "trumps" our expectations.

Let me be the first to "grab a broom and sweep up"; I do not consider myself "above" this action or any wine for that matter. I will always show an appreciation for the giver and their wine. The least I could do, is share said wine with or without satisfaction.

I'm with you, then. Just carried the wrong impression away from your post. Although if it was brought as a gift, I might just accept it as such and say we'll enjoy it later.

Wish I could do that with the bottles spo brings to offlines... Razz Wink Cool

Big Grin Your only chance for mercy is if I become ill right before or go on a fad diet for 3-4 months and can't drink.
