2008 Four Vines Anarchy
A blend of Zinfandel, Mourvèdre and Syrah it was chosen to please the masses at dinner last night (ie my wife and her friend whose birthday dinner it was had to like it...). Thick, chewy, very unctuous. Lots of caramel and mocha on the mid palate. A solid 88 points.
In Canada? Really? Duties in?
2009 Eric Kent Small Town Pinot
2001 Kelham CS - still a bit early?
2007 Round Pond CS - a lot of heat this time.
2007 Mayacamas Mt. Veeder - not as bold as I was hoping, just ok.
Last night with sushi:
Krug NV - showed very well
Billecart Salmon Rose NV - better than my last bottle. I've experienced a little variation in my past 5-6 bottles of this.
last two nights
2009 Ridge Merlot - very spicy more red than Black fruit. I'll hold my others for a year or two.
2008 Ridge Mazzoni Home Ranch - soft and smooth, good acidity, hint of bramble - very surprised by how much i liked this.
Today at lunch,
1998 Ridge Monte Bello
1999 Ridge Monte Bello
Both very pedestrian wines.
Have you experienced these wines before and felt differently?
Is it the wine or the vintage?
2000 Quilceda Creek Merlot
While never truly special imo but often very good, I'm guessing these two vintages were less than stellar overall.
The two bottles we shared today were drinking like a $30 wine.
2007 Seghesio Omaggio.
2006 Kosta Browne Keefer Vineyard PN
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.
This is not a wine I would describe as "bold" in any vintage. Nor muscular, ripe, lush, concentrated, etc. A very understated wine that rewards patience and food.
If you're young and conservative, you have no heart. If you're old and liberal, you have no brain.
Apostrophes don't make things plural.
2007 Chateau Rayas de Fonsalette Blanc
2005 Chateau Rayas de Fonsalette Reserve CdR
2007 Domaine Senechaux CdP
2001 Elderton Command Shiraz
fcs, you do understand where this wine is from, right?
How was it Dokta?
Going where the water tastes like wine
1983 Lynch Bages. First time, greatly underrated wine!
2007 Domaine Carneros Brut
