Planning on picking up more of the 2007 Chalone Estate Chardonnay today as it is very enjoyable for the price. Also going to snag some St. Damien Gigondas.

Whew. Sunday a.m. and ppl are already buying wine! Wink I haven't bought wine since, um, Friday.

At least nobody's started a "what are you drinking" thread yet (I hope).

EDIT: I just saw the "what are you drinking thread! You all are animals.

I think it's just a contest who can make the thread first. The first post doesn't even have any purchases in it.

And the first group of posts in the new drinking thread are all from October 31st.

Oh my! Quite a haul.
Economist, have you had the Capanna BdM's before? Curious what your impressions are.

Have not actually had it but have heard good things... since this is my first one, I won't be having the first bottle until maybe 2012 or so... have you heard anything or have any pertinent opinions?

I bought a case of the 2001 Capanna BdM Riserva. I've opened two, and they're massive, with VERY high tannins. I can see them easily going 20+ years. Even with less time in barrique for the normale, 2012 might be too soon for this one? (assuming the world doesn't end, Wink)

In that case, you're probably right... that's why I end up getting unceremoniously bent over when it comes to purchasing older wines - I am always in need of some good reds to enjoy while patiently waiting for the first batch of wines in my cellar to properly mature.
