I bought a case of the 2001 Capanna BdM Riserva. I've opened two, and they're massive, with VERY high tannins. I can see them easily going 20+ years. Even with less time in barrique for the normale, 2012 might be too soon for this one? (assuming the world doesn't end, )

In that case, you're probably right... that's why I end up getting unceremoniously bent over when it comes to purchasing older wines - I am always in need of some good reds to enjoy while patiently waiting for the first batch of wines in my cellar to properly mature.
