I would buy a case of Dunn Howell Mountain (okay, maybe I'd buy 8 bottles).

Better make that 8 bottles from the early to mid 1990's. If you buy the 2001 Dunn, you might not live long enough to enjoy it. Big Grin

Here's what I would buy that is currently on the market:

Chardonnay (8 total):
'01 Landmark Overlook-4 @ $21 per bottle
'01 Martinelli Woolsey Road-2 @ $32 per bottle
'01 Patz & Hall Napa- 2 @ $28 per bottle

Pinot Noir (12 total):
'02 Melville Estate-2 @ $22 per bottle
'02 Clos Pepe Santa Rita-2 @ $35 per bottle
'02 Failla Keefer Ranch-4 @ $32 per bottle
'01 Loring Ontiveros-4 @ $30 per bottle

Syrah/Shiraz (6 total):
'02 Marquis Philips Sarah's Blend-4 @ $16 per bottle
'02 Two Hands Angel's Share-2 @ $18 per bottle

Red Blend (2 total)
'02 Orin Swift "The Prisoner"-2 @ $24 per bottle

Cabernet (10 total):
'01 Ramey Diamond Mt-2 @ $47 per bottle
'01 Neal Family-4 @ $45 per bottle
'01 Justin Isosceles-2 @ $50 per bottle
'02 Marquis Philips S2-2 @ 25 per bottle

38 bottles in all. Something to fit most tastes. Total cost=$1,000.

If any of these varietals don't suit you, then I would consider some sub-$25 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Rieslings.
