CalFire is reporting 100% containment and all evacuations cancelled.

Ummm... we can see it and smell it in SF now. I would imagine CalFire was wrong, though I hope everyone is ok.

I'll bet you are seeing and smelling the smoke from the Angel Island fire, not Napa...

Randy appears to be correct:
- They've open up the roads again
- I'm about a mile away, and there's no smoke
- A friend who owns the property on which the fire apparently started and whose house was completely surrounded by the fire (yet luckily untouched) has been allowed to go back home.

Opinion....Do you think that excessive smoke from the fires will impact the taste or nose of the wines (not yet in bottles)?

Perhaps they can save some money on the charred oak barrels this year.

Received an email from Herb Lamb Vineyards yesterday with reference to the fire along with some day and night pics from their back porch.
All too close for them given the what ifs.

For me, HLV has great customer service practices. Sometimes receiving a short note stating the harvest conditions and expectations of the vintage is refreshing as I am receiving information without being asked to buy something. Kind of rare.

To those who were affected by the Napa fire, may you recover quickly. To the Lambs, perhaps a little kharma to your benefit, good for you and your family.

I posted a link to a pic from his home in the earlier Napa fire thread.

I think it unlikely. Unlike some of the larger, longer-lasting fires this one only really put out a lot of smoke for about 6-8 hours, and most of it seemed to be rising, rather than blanketing the ground.
