Interesting. I inadvertently opened one a year ago and found it tighter than..........
I vowed not to open any more for several years. Now I feel compelled to try it again ('cause I truly trust your palate).
The '80 Col D'Orcia was amongst my WOTY choices amongst others we've had the pleasure of sharing.

The '06 Riserva had been open for approx. 9 hours prior to my tasting it. This was at a tasting in Chicago last night. Probably had a lot to do with how well it showed. Great nose and tart cherries with very balanced acidity on the palate. Please don't mistake my note for saying it is ready to drink. This wine has a good 20-25 years of life ahead if not more.

It must get pretty boring after a while, having to drink a bunch of wines all from the same year. Big Grin

Are you consuming these with the lights out, avoiding the annual candy-giving rituals? Razz

Tonight, Mrs. DP and I shared a 2009 Sbragia Chard and a '99 Tignanello while watching the winds of Sandy make our backyard trees dance.

Many, many thanks DoktaP. Me and Aisha send our best regards. The Sass was really good stuff... a little bit of funk that blew off to reveal beautiful soil and raspberry notes. A very lush wine that will hold up for many years. Hope the winds of Sandy passed without much disturbance to you and all the YVZ crew.

My 3rd bottle over the past month... simply drinking beautifully. The bottle I brought the other night to dinner, I poured a glass for the sommelier who commented it was the best champagne she had ever tried. Down to my last bottle. =(
