Remember those days when you had to stake out your local Costco or travel many miles in hopes of getting you hands on a couple of B2k's. It was always foot race to the cage when those roll-up door opened at 10 a.m. Somehow Pyang was always leading the pack or walking out with several cases by the time I got there. Hopefully those days are gone, especially when everyone is chasing down the next big vintage - 2001 California Cab.

Just to throw a little variety your way... The Novato Costco is now selling 2001 Bordeaux's. Here's a list of what they are offering for anyone interested. (Two cases of each wine listed on hand). I'll be DRAB'in a couple these in the nights to come. Smile

Vieux-chateau-Certan $78 (WS 94)
Chateau Palmer $85 (WS 94)
Chateau L'Eglise $? (WS 92-94?)
Chateau Leoville Barton $35 (WS 92)
Chateau Smith-Haut-Lafite $32 (WS 90)
Chateau Lynch-Bages $36 (WS 90)
Carruades de Lafite $27 (WS 90)
Château Beau-Séjour Bécot ? (WS ?)

I may do the occasional drive-by, but most definitely won't be there rolling out carts every other week... Wink

I was wondering when the 01s would start rolling in to Costco. The amount of free time I have now that I don't have to check Costco for B2K anymore allows me to work out 3 times each week! Ahh, the good old days. I'm sure Pyang had me beat, but I did very well with all those visits!

I will probably case out my Costco for some possibilities, but I managed to get quite a few good buys as futures on 01s, much better deals than 00 this late in the game.

Yes, but I came here for an argument.

Oh! Oh! I'm sorry, this is abuse.

2001 Is one of those sleeper vintages. It produced many good wines, however is will always be overshadowed by the great 2000's.

how depressing to live in a state where wine can only be sold by the "state store" (no grocery stores, and, alas, not in costco either).

hey, but we have great education in the keystone state!

Stopped by both the Fairfield and Vacaville Costco's and they have a couple cases of Chasse-Spleen ($18) and Talbot ($25). Will be checking on Novato on Friday.

Bucket-Bandito, at least I won't have to 'arm-wrestle' you and your friends again for 2000 Mouton-R in the SF Costco again.

I haven't seen any '01's here in the Detroit area yet. In fact the selection of wines doesn't seem to have changed much around here in the past 3-4 months, and has been terrible. I visited the local Sam's Club, and even they had a better selection of wine. Does anyone agree that Costco seems to be going downhill and become a dumping ground for off-vintage wines, at not really bargain prices? Why don't they put inventory which is not moving on sale, and get some new stock???

Hey Winebiz, You were that unsuspecting guy that flew in under the radar that day. We were the young bucks with overwhelming anticipation on our faces. Smile That was a success trip for the all of us. Glad those days are over, however, the thrill of the chase was fun. Hope all is well with you.

Pyang, Tried to see if Laura and I could get involved with all you yesterday at Lewelling before your dinner. I was going to talk you about selling those B2ks. Hope you all had a good time and look forward to reading your TN's for the evening.

Bucket-bandito,

Sorry about that... Frown

I couldn't get back to Stacy right away as I was up on Spring Mountain for an appointment at Pride, no cell phone reception up there with AT&T.

I hope you and Laura were able to find something entertaining for the afternoon.

Shoot me an e-mail or call me at winebid and we can chat about the B2Ks.
