I have 18 bottles of 05 Bordeaux, 6 being the Guiraud.

Still waiting for Leoville Barton from Premier Cru.

10 to 15 cases so far and I am watching for close out deals to buy more. This is the last Bordeaux year for me because I don't think I will live long enough to fully enjoy any vintages beyond 2005.

12 cases but bought long time ago so most prices ended up okay (most still not below my original purchase price. Also many were large formats.

Around 10 cases. Split between daily drinkers like Haut Bergey/Cap Faugeres and some higher end like Pavie, etc. Just a couple FG, bought early so not too bad price-wise(relatively speaking).

None.

I split a 6 pack of 2005 The Winemakers' Collection Michel Rolland Cuvée No. 1 Château d'Arsac with seanr7. I'm sitting on those. I'm not opposed to buying some. If things get tight and some sellers start dumping I'll pick up a little bit if the pricing is attractive.

I did buy '05 quite heavily. Some futures and some online/shops... -sigh- oh well... I had to put my wine money somewhere... I guess I will be able to tell if it was worth it many many years from now... Smile

Three full cases, four half cases, and about a half dozen singles. About 2/3 red, the rest white, both dry and sweet. Nothing very extravagant, and except for Clerc Milon, I've sampled a bottle (or two) of each, as a reference. I'm reasonably young, bought early, and am happy to have the learning experience.

A bit from here and there. Some I am really looking forward to include: Pavie, Monbousquet, Malescot, Leoville Barton, Lascombes, Clerc Milon, Cos d'Estournel, Lagrange, and various Sauternes including Doisy Daene, Rieussec, Guiraud, & La Tour Blanche. I may open a Aromes de Pavie this week (with a generous decant) to see how it is coming along.

I bought some 2005 futures when I heard it was supposed to be such a great vintage. I bought some other French wines besides Bordeaux.

I went in for about 80 bottles. To me, this vintage offered a lot a value in the $15-25 satellite appellations and the $30-50 Right Banks. I primarily bought RB's that I have bought and drank in past vintages that scored 91-95. I bought very little Left Bank wines I have purchased in the past as they were 2-3 times the price of 00 and 03 (did get some Clerc at $50). This was a Right Bank vintage for me (based on price only), whereas 03 was a Left Bank vintage.

I think this is what makes the vintage such an investment. There aren't many wines that will be ready to drink after five years, much less ten.

Nah. I bought some inexpensive 2000 that I still have, some 2001 Sauternes and I have a few cases of 2001 Rioja coming in this week from a barrel a few of us bought about 8 years ago. And really, what would you rather drink?

I bought a whole bunch of sub 25 dollar stuff like Caronne Ste Gemme, Puygeraud, Senejac, Les Trois Croix, etc. and also some futures of Montrose. Of course, the Montrose ended up being cheaper on Costco.com when they had their 05 sale, during which I snapped up additional bottles of Cos and Pichon Baron. I also picked up some Rougets, SHL, Duharts, and Clerc Milons.

I haven't opened any of the higher end 05s but the Caronne Ste Gemme was the star for me. Totally loved it and thought it was a steal for 13.99 at my local Costco when they had it. I should have bought 2 cases, but only managed to score 5 bottles.

As 2005 was supposed to be kind to the lesser pedigrees as well, I took the opportunity to load up on the low and mid priced versions. None over $60 and all still with cork.

Unlike the first growths, price escalation was mild to nonexistent for the lesser properties, and the Dollar was just starting to slide. It seemed the stars were aligned to procure good daily drinkers from an arguably great vintage at a decent price. I bought 126 bottles.

I just got back from 5 weeks in Paris and was finally able to try some of the 05's as all my shipments from PC are still outstanding Frown

just one note the 05 Pontet Canet was awesome and will be incredible in a couple more years.

on another unrelated issue I was able to unexpectedly meet one of the owners of Romanee Cont. while visiting his vineyards in the Burgundy--- wow
