What mailing lists are you particularly hot on, and which are you considering dumping? And what list have you been waiting to get on the longest?

---I'm not hot on a particular list right now, but I've got lots of favorites (too many).

---I'm cold on Neal (Can't ship to Virginia still, and I think I overloaded on Neal one night tasting four vintages of normale cab with newsguy. Plus they send three mailers a year with duplicate offerings... Too confusing for me.)

---The waiting list I've been on the longest: Sin Qua Non since 5/05.

I am waiting on several: Colgin, Quilceda Creek, Schrader, Sloan, some others I am missing. Scarecrow too, but I will get on that once it has cooled off I bet.

So far I passed on Araujo and Blankiet.

I am wondering if I am going to get an offer for Harlan this year, would love to order the Maiden after tasting the 04 Bond Matriarch. The Bond list is one I definitely am staying on. Gemstone as well, oh, and Merus.

Have not been waiting too long, started signing up for lists at the end of 07, can't complain.

I didn't know Schrader had a wait list. That mailer should be coming out very soon.

Gemstone should be out in July.....but I will probably pass.

I'll probably still buy Harlan....just because. That seems to be one wine that I can always get rid of very easily if I want to.

I might buy Futo again this year....not sure yet.

And that about raps it up for this year anyway. Everything else for the Fall season I have already dropped, or will drop this year.

Schrader Cellars is very fortunate to have a loyal group of friends and enthusiasts who love fine wine and remain faithful to our mailing list.

Each year, we face the challenge of sharing our extremely limited quantity of single vineyard estate wines with our friends. In our experience, we have found that selling our wines via our mailing list provides the most equitable way to share our wines with our friends and loyal customers.
At present, there is a waiting list to join our mailing list. Our policy is to move customers on to our mailing list as space opens up based on the date they registered on our waiting list.

If you would like to be added to our waiting list and then added to our mailing list (as space becomes available) for future release opportunities*, please provide your contact information in the spaces below. We will notify you when you have been added to the mailing list.

Their juice has gotten pretty popular, hopefully I won't be on the wait list for too long.

I'm not hot on any mailing list. As a matter of fact I think I've dropped just about every one except maybe a few. I'm still buying from some and passing along at my cost to friends such as Quilceda Creek, Kosta Browne, etc... About the only California mailer I'm keeping right now is Sine Qua Non.

Keeping:

Carlisle (I like Mike)
Rivers-Marie
Quilceda
Saxum

Dumped or passed:

Kosta Browne (Signed up on word-of-mouth, discovered that I prefer my pinots to actually taste like pinot, so dropped them)
Schrader (good juice, but I dont' appreciate getting screwed on shipping)
Araujo

And plenty of others who the supposed excitement of being on their list quickly faded.

The only lists I'm still on:
Stefania
Le Cadeau

Quilceda Creek would be nice

Dropping off of:
Harlan (just too d*mn expensive)
Kosta Browne (this year it's my turn to tell them to keep their 'list'.

I'm just pretty over the whole 'list' thing for the most part. Especially anything to do with the 'to buy this one, buy two of that one'. Never bit, doubt I ever will.

List I am waiting to be on:

There is really only one list I've signed up for and then declined to purchase - Kistler (I was interested in pinots and decided not to buy the minimum $1,000 in chardonnay to stay on the list!!)

I am proud to say I am on NO mailing lists.

Why? Don't get me started...

Quilceda Creek seems pretty concensus popular.

Since everyone's cataloguing:

I'm on these:
Le Cadeau - very happy
Turley - very happy
Shafer - love the wines, wish they were cheaper
Pride - like the mix of varietals, all done well
Cayuse - looking forward to trying more of their wines
Kistler - love one or two of the chard bottlings, share the rest with others...
Windy Oaks Estate - Just started up, very nice people
Jean Edwards Cellars - liked the cab, did not like the syrah
Beaux Freres - loved the first I had, but painfully expensive
Shea Wine Cellars - Cheaper than the wines from other makers who source their grapes, so I'm giving them a go
Kosta Browne Winery - I may not like this style... could be one and done
Stefania - was unenthusiastic about 2005 syrah, but 2006 syrah and haut tubee revived my interest
Araujo - Just got on, but I doubt I can afford to stay on

Dropping:
Neal - Letting that run out (but they're super nice people)

Lists I got on but didn't order - b/c they're too pricey:
Blankiet
Peter Michael
Bacio Divino
Harlan/Bond
Merus
David Arthur
I got on Bressler, but logged in to order too late and never got offered again

Waiting lists:
Sin Qua Non - Love the fact that they send postcards to waiting list people
J. Lohr Vineyards
Leonetti Cellars
Sloan Wine
Martinelli Winery
Colgin Cellars
Montagna Vineyards
Aubert Wines
Kutch Wines
and now Quilceda Creek

I'm on so many, but really I just order singles of stuff to try it out and see what lists I want to be on five years from now.

Perhaps my google skills are faulty (er, I have no "mad skillz"), but I can't find any info on how, exactly, to sign up for the Sine Qua Non waiting list. I know I may not get on the actual mailing list in the next decade, but, hey, it's a shorter waiting list than the Packers season ticket waiting list, right? Thanks

That may be one that you have to call or fax to get on the list. I recall one or two lists required a phone call. I got the info from the forums here, so if you don't get a quick answer another way, try searching under Sin Qua Non on this forum.

I found it-don't know if this is still valid:
Mailing List: To get on the waiting list, you can phone (805) 649-8901 for instructions. There is no website.
