All these stories about a wine glut in Austrailia and the E.U. I wonder why they haven't tried to reduce yields per acre and make greater efforts to produce more quality premium wines? I have not seen these gluts result in lower prices for premium wines...the prices keep sky rocketing..You would think that the consumption and market would grow if there were better wines at a lower price point out there... I can't tell you how many people I know that say they don't like wine and it's because all the wine they have be exposed to in bars, resturants and weddings offered by the glass is in my opinion undrinkable...

All wine countries are suffering from over wine stock and Australia I think is the one with biggest trouble due to extensive grape fields that the government is suggesting to take out to control the prices because they are geeting ridicolous low.

In France, they make alcohol out of wine they have in stock and other countries give it away in promotions and marketing.

We are suffering from a wine flood!

High end wines, like lake front homes, will never go down in price and are almost entirely unaffected by gluts.

Cheap wine may become cheaper in gluts, but then again the quality dips also. I think Wine gluts are lame and do nothing but hurt the consumer. Although they do amount to cheap medical grade alcohol for hospitals in France....

You mean to tell me that "Big Wine" is following "Big Oil's" lead and reducing output to "artificially" raise prices to consumers? I demand a congressional investigation! I'm calling my congressman now. This is an outrage!

There is plenty of responsible winemakers in australia you just have to pick the right ones. Land is real cheap there compared to california per acre to buy land. Glaetzer in Barossa valley makes alot of great wines from single vineyards starting at $24 a bottle. Try the stonehorse or bishop bottlings to start. D'arenberg winery makes responsible wines at all price points too.
