I have a bottle of Raymond Reserve Cabernet 1998 that has wine leaking through the cork. The cork is sealed with wax sso only a tiny amount of dry wine is noticeable on the rim of the bottle.Has anyone else had this problem, any chance the wine is still good?
This is unfortunate because this bottle got 92pt WS -Its my only bottle |

Most of us, at one time or another, have had bottles that leaked.
You should plan on opening the bottle almost immediately, in my opinion. Time isn't going to be that bottle's friend. As far as knowing whether it will be good or not, there's only one way to tell. Have a back-up ready. And don't lament too much if the wine has gone south; it happens to the best of us. Now, if you were Martha Stewart and were greedy, you could just wipe the wine off the rim of the bottle, put the bottle up for auction, and use the proceeds to buy a different bottle. But that would be wrong, and like Martha Stewart, you would be fervently hated by all. |
