Have you ever come across a wine that was so high on your "yummy" meter that you refrained from discussing it with others, just so it would stay available for longer?

One for me is the 2001 Dom. Schlumberger Gewurztraminer, Kessler Grand Cru. I just bought another 2 cases, so I feel free to mention it now. But I would have been bummed to not be able to get more of it. At $27, it is a smoking deal, IMHO.

Grocery Outlet Buys Wine.com Inventory
BERKELEY, Calif. (December 5, 2001) -- In its second big deal this year, closeout retailer Grocery Outlet here has purchased the inventory of former online wine-delivery retailer Wine.com. Wine.com ceased operations back in April and filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection May 4. Grocery Outlet has begun moving the huge wine selection — 40,000 cases — to its 56 California stores. Wine.com had tried since 1999 to build a market for home delivery of fine wines. High costs per transaction, difficulty of educating sissified consumers about wine and the use of terms like cat pee, and an inability to turn online browsers into buyers contributed to the demise of Wine.com. -- Barbara Murray.

Yes. However, being a man I never use the word "yummy".

I''m not proud of it, but yes. Though I've also alerted fellow area winegeeks of great buys and unexpected availabilities on occasion.
