At the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium they reported that wine consumption reached a recorded high in 2003- jumping 5%. This would make it 2.68 gallons per adult!!

Well I figure thats about 3 weeks worth consumption for this wine drinker. I quess someone elses loss is my gain, for the rest of the year. Enjoy it while you can.

If those other people had the same access to your wine that you do, I bet that increase would be higher. Thanks to you and other winemakers like you, I too am well over the 2.68 gallons per year level. Keep up the good work.

well, I think my wife and I have been pretty steady at 3 bottles per week as a baseline. When we entertain it's up from there. When my in-laws visit, it's obscenely high (not to mention the inevitable run on gin at the local supermarkets) Eek

Stood up and tried to focus
I hoped I wouldn't have to look far
I knew I could use a bloody mary
so I stumbled next door to the bar

I just read Mark's post, and I thought I'd do a few calculations of my own wine consumption. Here are the numbers:

My wife and I consume, on average, six bottles a week. My share is three bottles (3 x 750 mL = 2.25 L/week)

52 weeks a year x 2.25 L = 117 L/year.

Okay, I had to look this metric stuff up, but one liter equals 0.264172 Gallons.

That makes 30.9081 gallons/year.

AH HA!!!!!! I AM WAY ABOVE AVERAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!! If my second grade teacher only knew!!! She can stick that "Jay will never amount to anything" up her wazooo!!! LOOK AT ME NOW!!!!!! I'M KING OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!

And you know what, I think if I really applied myself, I could do even better!

Semper ubi sub ubi!
