In keeping with an earlier thread this year highlighting CT's suite of reports, what are your current 'Top 20' wines as scored by you on CT??

Mine are as follows:

1. 1987 Dunn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain (97)
2. 2002 Dunn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain (97)
3. 2004 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia (96)
4. 2005 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia (96)
5. 2002 Moët & Chandon Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon (96)
6. 2007 Kistler Chardonnay Les Noisetiers (95)
7. 2005 Finca Allende Rioja Aurus (95)
8. 2006 Tenuta Sette Ponti Oreno Toscana IGT (95)
9. 2005 Bodegas y Viñedos Alión Ribera del Duero (95)
10. 2007 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Le Serre Nuove (95)
11. 2007 Shafer Relentless (95)
12. 2007 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (95)
13. 2005 Ridge Chardonnay Santa Cruz Mountains (95)
14. 1997 Warre Porto Vintage (95)
15. 1992 Warre Porto Vintage Quinta da Cavadinha (95)
16. 2001 Ridge Monte Bello (95)
17. 1996 Beringer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve (95)
18. 1997 Beringer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve (95)
19. 2001 Ridge Geyserville (95)
20. 2004 Dominus Estate (95)

Although I'm proud that my collection of 700 bottles covers all major wine regions of the world, the fact that 10 of my 'Top 20' scoring wines were from California was a bit of a surprise.

Furthermore, I've been on CT for almost 7 years now, and I found it surprising that 17 out of my 'Top 20' were consumed within the past 2 years...

What surprises you about your own CT 'Top 20'??

Happy Holiday!

- Ian

That's a nice list! Your scores on the Dunn HM's are generous, but I'm not far behind you on them. Having enjoyed both more than once this year, the '87 HM remains one of my favorite wines ever.

Based on the (2) '87 HM's I've had this year, I'm around a 96+.

As far as the '02 HM goes, I think it's the best since '97, and my favorite post-2000 besides '07/'08 (these are just in another league!). Again, with (2) bottles this year, I'm at a 94 on this one.

No question, it's all subjective in my opinion...Although My scores on the Dunns may be influenced by the fact we had the '87 at the French Laundry, and we had just visited the Dunn winery the day before, these are simply the types of wines we like...

Amazing structure, fruit and balance - Not over the top in any way..(and I've had similar experiences with other Howell Mountain sites, the perfect terroir!).
