Yes, it's the Hermitage Blanc. It's excellent. A real standout wine at a tasting where I went through close to 100 wines, including Haut-Brion, Pichon-Lalande, and tons of top Italians (fundraising event with winemakers), Californians, French, and Aussie wines.

Thanks. I actually ordered a few bottles this morning. Looking forward to trying one.

2006 Diatom Huber Chardonnay
2006 Diatom Clos Pepe Chardonnay

HELLO! These two wines might just be the two finest Chablis like wines I have had from California.

Very, very well done. Cool

I bought three of the Huber. We had one a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed its crisp (dare I say) minerality, but I think this is one that will benefit from another year or two in the bottle.

Just one more sip.

Darn Board-O, I can never get a heads-up on you!

The '06 Huber and Clos Pepe may very well improve. I found the Pepe drinking better now, but both so Chablis like.

I like. Cool

2004 Marques de Gelida Brut Reserva Rose Cava - so so... much rather spend the extra money for a nice NV Champagne. Light with strawberry and a hint of yeast. Crisp finish but lacking some essential elements.

Finishing off the remnants of the '99 Greenock Creek Creek Block Shiraz... much better tonight. Not the best GC Shiraz I've had but quite enjoyable nonetheless.

Also have a 2003 Ladera Howell Mountain cabernet happening. I don't always agree with Laube, but in this instance I think his TN's are spot on...

"Impeccable balance, depth and concentration, combining rich, dense currant, anise, sage and berry flavors with a mix of cedary oak and spice. Finishes with a push of fruit and ripe, firm tannins."

The longer this bad boy airs out the better it gets.

So far this week:

2002 Peter Lehmann Clancy's.
A very special bottle for me as this was my last bottle left from the ones I managed to save after hurricane Katrina in NOLA. The wine was singing; a nice blend, predominantly shiraz. I had it on my wedding aniversary celebration earlier this week.

2005 Copain Syrah - Gary's (really nice wine at 92 pts now with potential to go up a point or two).

I had this last year and thought it could still use more time; the other night it drank extremely well - I think it's ready.

FWIW, I have had every vintage back to 1995. My feeling is that 1998 is the worst, followed by the 2000. I have had the 2003 many times over the last year. It is a very good wine, and if I were to give points, I might go as high as 89-90. The 2004 is an excellent bottle, one that will be outstanding in a few years.

Not to stir things up, but while the price for Cinq has gone up, the scores have gone down. I know, I know, tasted blind....whatever.... Roll Eyes

But the 2002 got 84 points, and the 2004 only 87? Sorry, but no friggin' way.... Confused

DnVD-

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Concerning the disparity with scores, I am starting to look elsewhere for TNs on California reds; this forum included.

Last night we did a broken up vertical tasting of Montebello 90,91,92,94,98,99(corked) Second time we have done this and same winner again '94. We also did a '69 CDP but I forget the producer and there wasn't much left in that wine.

Did it feel like it was way you too young to be drinking?
