I think you will be very well served holding onto it at least until 2010.

Sticky2, remember the they at WS is different people, so can not compare really.

As for the '03 Cinq, I'm curious if there is bottle variation. I have had far too many bottles of this wine at corporate dinners, and never had a bottle I would rate above 87, which I have found to be the case for most of the '03 vintage.

The '02 & '04 vintage (Napa) is just so much better imo to risk a '03.

Thanks for your comments.

Have you had the 03 though? Now that I am curious I will open up one of my 2000's soon and see how they compare. You might as well try the 03 before dismissing it, you might even like it Wink

I see your point but if they can be so impressed with the 03 and 05 Don Melchor I have no idea how the 03 Cinq Cepages can be 10 points lower. I have tried the 03 Melchor and won't be opening my 05's any time soon but it is not a 10+ point better wine. Then again, I don't rate wine for a living.

I think the bottle is too young for there to be great variation.

2004 Tulbaugh Mountain Vineyards - Syrah-Mouvedre - last bottle - which I had more. A really good bottle of wine and for $25 bucks, a real QPR.

2005 Jadot Bourgogne - Pinot Noir - the basic bottling that at $18 was a solid 89 points and a remarkably good entry level burgundy. 2005 really has great fruit. This was like buying a kabinett and getting spatlese as far as fruit quality and intenseness.

Sticky, yes, I said I have had far too many bottles of this wine at corporate dinners. Smile

There is no they. JM rated (blind) the Melchor and JL tasted the CC (blind). Different people, different wine from a different part of the world. I'm just not getting the correlation. Confused

I think the bottle is too young for there to be great variation.

What???

Damn W+A, you roll with the big boys! Nice assortment!

Last night, a 2006 Beringer Alluvium Blanc. Nice crisp summer QPR sipper with some salmon and rest of a key lime pie.

Ugh, I figured Laube tasted both.

As far the bottle variation, my point was that since the bottle is relatively young the variation among them won't be large due to storage, transport, etc. They should all be drinking about the same, but there *could* be variation.

Still a great bottle of wine Razz

Last night I opened a 2000 Reserve de Comtesse (I think it is a second wine from Pichon Lalande). After about one hour it was drinking very nicely. At first I was disappointed with the lack of finish but with dinner (steak) it helped bring the wine to life!

Second night...showing better. Felt rounder and richer...but also lost a bit of fruit. Drank nciely but defineityl didnt wow me.

Also had with friends:
06 Four Graces Pinto Blanc- can't say enough about this wine. My favorite sub $20 white. Try it if you can find it.

06 Levendi Red Hen Chardonnay- this is a good new producer. Price point a little high at $35-40.

Also had on 06 Cotes du Rhone blanc..I need to see who the produced was (sorry- bottle not handy) as this was a great QPR
