gigabit-
I took this 'camping' overnight. I went out on the motorcycle, with this packed in a pack on the back of the bike. Cooled down on ice for a bit, brought to a stabile temperature, popped and poured....into plastic glasses! Even with all of this, the bottle was unphased in quality. Sure, it didn't show as well as out of a proper glass, but it STILL showed its' stuff and was a joy to drink. First time I could ever say that of any wine I've tried this with. I'll refrain from scoring, given all the circumstances. I've posted TN's on this one in the past. Is it ready to go? Oh yeah! Smile

KSC02-

It sounds like you had a great time. I am reluctant to open any of my 04 1.5, but based on your post, I am certainly more enticed than ever.

By the way, what did you BBQ?

Camped at a place called The Pinery in Grand Bend, Ontario. Beautiful place, on Lake Huron.

With the Shafer One Point Five:
New York Sirloin and roasted potatoes.

Tonight I'm cooking on the barbecue and having an 05 Reignac. Just opened it and it seems like it has a lot in store.

/sticky,

Sorry for the late response. I was not all that impressed with the Metisse compared to thte rest. My favaorites were the Dominus', the 1997 Opus was drinkning very well right now with a finish that kept going. The Insignia was good (much more drinkable than a 2001 I had recently) and both Pahlmeyers were really nice. It was a very long afternoon at Mr. Stox in Anaheim (12:30pm - 6pm) and we all have designated drivers. A few other wine we had to start included a 2007 Hartford Court Rose of Pinot, a 2004 Peter Michael Chardonnay Ma Belle Fille, and a 2003 chateau Guiraud Sauternes with the Fois Gras. We finished the tasting/lunch with a 1929 Tesseron XO Exceptionalle Grande Champagne de Cognac. I don't have any TNs as it is just an afternoon to enjoy and after that many wines, it is easy to lose track. We do this luncheon group about every 6 weeks and requires taking a half day off work. It's always a great event as the group is friends with the executive chef and he cooks for us off the menu to suit our wines/tastes.

1992 Dominus
1997 Opus One
1999 Joseph Phelps Insignia
2000 Bond The Matriarch
2002 Verite La Muse
2002 Pahlmeyer
2003 Peter Michael Les Pavots
2003 Behrens & Hitch**** The Heavyweight
2004 Pahlmeyer
2004 Philippe Melka Metisse
2005 Dominus

Probably the best lunch I ever had. The 05 Dominus was very nice for such a young wine I'll be grabbing some of those for sure.

Oh man, I bet that was quite a lunch.

How was the 04 Metisse in comparison to the rest? Which wine did you like the best?

Thanks for the response, never heard of Mr. Stox before. Looked it up, the menu has a good variety to it I'll have to try it sometime, especially that lobster salad.

It was a long, long weekend with 54 holes of golf (one subdivision vs. another subdivision) at the club - Ryder Cup format. With the golf came festivities. So:

Friday night dinner at the club and on to one of the neighbors for the "pairing party" -

2005 Stags Leap Winery Cabernet
2003 CSJ Cinq Cepages
2004 Souverain Cabernet
2005 Audelssa Zephyr
NV Sacred Stone Red Wine
and a few other I don't remember....

Saturday night at a post round party at a neighbors -

2007 Matua Sauv Blanc
2007 Taz Pinot Gris
2004 Belvedere Healdsburg Ranches Chardonnay
2005 St. Clement Cabernet
2005 Penfolds Bin 389

Last night celebrating "The Woods" victory over "The Estates" - lots of margaritas along with the celebratory Greg Norman Estates Sparkling Wine that was mostly sprayed on my teammates....
