How was this showing? I have one in the cellar and am trying to decide when to open it. Thanks

It was very good. Lots of graphite/pencil lead on the nose, with a hint of blackberry. Good mouthfeel, and more fruit on the palate than I would have expected, but then again this was my first ever '82 Bordeaux.

very interesting, post a TN please?

Didn't take notes but it, surprisingly, carried some fruit notes but nevertheless carried a very tart edge that made it borderline Blah....

With ground lamb burgers cooked on the barbie (Mmmmmm!), a 2005 Syzygy Syrah.

Popped and poured, which was a mistake; this one definitely needs some air time so future bottles will get at least an hour of decanting time.

Still, it is a great Syrah and HS's tasting notes on the WS web site couldn't be more accurate. $30 and worth every penny.

2004 La Di Motte Pinot Grigio (Veneto).

I'm slumming it this month, working my way through a mixed case of cheap QPRs purchased on closeout from Wine Expo in Santa Monica. I'm not even that into PG but this bottle was just $7 so found its way into my case. It's actually pretty decent, 83 pts or so, but not interesting enough to warrant its own TN thread.

I'll let you know after we have it tomorrow. Smile

I've had it several times in the past and not been very pleased. I've been hoping it needs more time. With each tasting it seems to be getting better. I hope I don't regret opening another one too soon. I stood the bottle up yesterday and the fill is excellent. We'll see. I'm not too enthused after the previous bottles which, while not bad wine, were certainly disappointing for Beaucastel.

A huge thanks to WIML who keeps coordinating the DAWG off-lines (and keeps allowing me to show up). Eek Smile My first time to 62 Main in Colleyville. Great room they stowed us in, and one of the best crabcakes in Dallas .

The 2000 Laville Haut-Brion was massive. WIML, perhaps if you'd do more dickering with me and less with someone else I could have rustled you up a taste. Razz Wink And, the '89 Ausone was so elegant. Loved that. (Thanks, Mrs. win!) That said, everyone brought such beautiful wines.

Fun night. Great peeps! 62 Main is worth the drive... Big Grin

My soon to be son in law is now out of college and in the business world. He is being exposed to wine often now, and ask me ( what a good kid) to help him develop a working knowledge of wine.

So... a little blind tasting was in order. Smile

All served blind.

Bollinger Brut Special Cuvee vs. Roederer Brut NV

2002 Wm. Fevre Bougros vs. 2004 Newton Chardonnay Unfiltered.

2001 Langoa Barton vs. 2002 Ramey Claret

2002 Tollot Beaut Beaune Greves vs. 2003 Patz & Hall Burnside Sonoma Coast

Great selections for the learning curve! But I can't help but notice....

You're training your Son in Law how to consume a total of 4 complete bottles of wine in one sitting... Eek Wink
