I'm with you guys, but we're having a 1990 Mondavi Reserve Cabernet...

Tasting notes to follow as well (it's delicious!).

Also, I am writing this up on my site. I'm proposing that this be an annual "open the bottle" night in remembrance of the life of Robert Mondavi.

Cheers to you all!

André Tchelistcheff and Robert Mondavi were, imo, the two people most responsible for the move toward high quality wine in the United States. They took this country from the depths of sacramental syrup to the pinnacle of the wine world. It'd be nice if there was some way to officially recognize their contributions.

Just one more sip.

Well...we need May 16th to be Robert Mondavi day and call it a National Holiday. We give National Holidays for men and reasons that have done less in life.

Frown I'm saddened. A very sweet man, a life well lived.

Robert Mondavi was a simple man who had a passion and a vison. He was willing to endure personal sacrifices to see them to fruition. All Americans benefit greatly from this path that he chose.

“To succeed and have a happy life, you need common sense, a commitment to hard work and the courage to go your own way. Interest is not enough – you must be passionate about what you do. Find a job you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.”
Robert Mondavi

RM celebrated living life to its fullest and asked us to do the same. Let’s celebrate his great accomplishments and his wines. But of all things, let’s not commemorate his death.
