williams selyem has a pick up party at millbrook vineyards, so i thought i'd give the area a try.

Not even close. I've toured them. On one trip, I told my wife I was definitely going to buy something. After tasting plonk all day, I bought a bottle of Baldwin Raspberry wine. The area is nice, though it'd be better in warm weather. You could picnic at Baldwin or several others. I doubt you'll find anything you want to buy, but I look forward to reading about your trip. When are you going?

Just one more sip.

Tbird: I know the area well - it should be fine in late April, but bring a sweatshirt for at night just in case. It's a beautfiul area - try a hike on Mohonk mountain if that's your bag. Plenty of good golf and fishing too. I'll withhold comment on the wines (though Millbrook is by far the best in the area)...

T, Late April can be cold up there. But, the way this winter has been, it should be OK.

You picked a good year to move to NY to "Ease" you into the northeast. Smile

I live here in the Hudson Valley. There are many great restuarants around also. But if you are going to wineries I think the only real decent one is Millbrook. Their wines have been given 88 and 89 points in the spectator before.

Look at the back.....it is just slightly cheaper to pick it up at Millbrook than it is to get it direct shipped.

I read it after I sent it off for NY pickup, too.

Any excuse. I'm sure you know what I mean.

Nice drive from the city.
Now..zero expecations about the winery, so all of it is a plus.

You still going?

BTW, TBird, James is right...there are some truly spectacular places to hike or rock climb in the valley.

I was up at Mohonk this fall, and it was great. You can find "high heel" hikes that are great, or ratchet it all the way up to some of the east coast's best climbers tackling some pretty hairy stuf in the Gunks.

I live about 40 minutes from Millbrook, and I used to drive there to pick up my WS. While it is an easy drive, I just pay the extra 25 to 50 cents per bottle to have it shipped to my office.

Like to, but can't. (guess this means I pay them more to ship it down to the city Eek)

Wife's in DC for work this weekend, so I'm stuck with the kids and their various kiddie activities this weekend.
