Hi Guys,
I'm new to the forums but have been drinking wine for several years. I've now got the problem of my wine cellar being full with more on the way. My question... does anyone have experience/recommendations on selling via places like winebid or winecommune? It's middle of the road stuff like Beringer, Conn etc that I bought for $25 to $80 per bottle. Also I live in Maryland so I don't think I can legally sell it directly.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Another post that a FAQ section would help out on.

Winebid.com or Winecommune.com might be worth checking out.

Mike,

Instead of selling it, join our Maryland offline group and make some cellar space by bringing some bottles to share!

There are a bunch of us Marylanders local to you, and we'd love to see what you're looking to unload. If you can, post a list of wines you'd like to sell or trade in the Buying and Selling section.

Put a list together and offer it in the Buying/Selling Forum here. You can also request that you prefer to sell only to buyers in your general area, because in that way you can avoid shipping issues.

wine commune didn't work very well for me

the local auction house (butterfields) was ok

if you can connect with people near you

through this forum, you may do fairly well

post a list

Remember if you try and sell it here you are dealing with folks that know what the wine is worth and if you are looking for top dollar you won't find it here.

Thanks, everyone for the advice. I'll join the Maryland offline group, Festiva, but I'd bring some of what I'm keeping rather than what I'm looking to get rid of. (Hopefully I've gotten a little smarter about what I buy, but don't count on it.)

I don't expect to make a profit on any of the wine but hope to recover a portion of my cost. My wine cellar is full and more is on the way.

I think I'll try WineBid first. I think that I have enough to exceed their $2500 minimum. I'll post a list on the Buying/Selling Forum if WineBid doesn't work.

Thanks.

...Well my cellar is a converted closet so expansion would be difficult. I've thought of the other alternative as well... drink more.
