The wine shops I frequent down here in South Florida typically have very poor selections with respect to Spaltese and Auslese. Where does everyone here normally buy?

Thx

Miami -
wine-searcher.com is a terrific site for finding wines. I'm not sure of FL shipping laws. A few months ago I purchased some 2005 JJ Prum MSR Whelener Sonnenuhr Spatlese in the mid-30s/btl from a Florida retailer.

I buy most of my Spatlese and Auslese from local stores in the Chicago area but that does not help you. I would talk to Emilio and ask him. He seems to be able to source very good German Rieslings from stores in the Miami area. Perhaps he would include you on his purchases.

You should also look into winebid auctions. German Rieslings often have very good opening bids.

If neither of those sources work for you, I will probably be clearing some German Spatlese and Auslese out of my cellar and would either trade or sell them to you. My wife and I will probably be coming down to Miami in January or February and we could bring them down. If interested, post your email and I will put together a list (or ask Emilio for my email address).

Premier Cru, frankly for 2001 rieslings a few years ago, Crown actually had a great selectio, ditto for 2003.

Sunset Corners had some, last time I was there.

Garagiste had a nice little run of them a few weeks ago. Have you joined their email list?

Be forwarned.....Garagiste can blow your wine budget two bottles at a time. Next thing you know it's shipping season and you have 15 cases arriving!

I actually went through a mini-kick like this about 2 months ago. Crown on US-1 and 57th actually has a pretty decent collection. I was searching for Gewurtz, but that didn't work out too well. They did, however, have a decent selection of Rieslings. I bought a couple and was pretty satisfied. They have some Prum and a few others. I'd say 15-20 different bottles to choose from. It's not a mind-blowing selection, but every other place i went to had 5 tops.

Someone also told me Sunset Corners has a good selection of Gewurtz and Riesling, but I haven't seen for myself.

Mind-eraser tasting this Friday?

Haha I would love to but heading over to the gulf coast to see the fam. We need a mind eraser tasting asap - especially since fbook has allowed me to see some of the women you apparently hang out with!
