All of these are STEALS! The Tua Rita is probably my least favorite of the bunch, but I'm not a big Sangiovese fan. It is one of the best non-Brunello, 100% Sangioveses that I've tried.

I haven't tried the De Moi, but come on, it is 2000 Sandrone! FYI: Sandrone and La Spinetta are mt two favorite Piedmont producers. Pin is spectacular.

for all you Italian guzzlers....can you tell me anything about this one? My dad gave it to me, and brought it with him from Italy.

VV,

I find that Barbi makes very traditional Brunello and they have very hard tannins as a result. I'd wait another couple years before drinking. 2005+ should be just dandy.

Absolutely love this Amarone. 16+% Alcohol with wonderful structure and texture. Overwhelming, and palate filling raisin character. Finish lasts and lasts. A pleasure to sip and enjoy fireside.

IW,

Just wondering which of these you purchased. That Allegrini Amarone is a good price and I've just recently seen the 2001 Sandrone Barbara d' Alba and the 2001 Sandrone Dolcetto d' Alba hit the shelves here for $18.99. I know Whiner15 loves the Sandrone's but just wondering if you had tried one. WS rated the '01 Barbara d' Alba at 90 points so I'll try one in the next few weeks and post notes.

I drank my last bottle of 1995 Barbi Brunello (non-reserva) a few weeks ago and regretted opening it as it was so closed. I am assuming the Riserva will be similar. It is a good producers top wine from a good year. I would wait for at least 3-5 years before opening it.

Emilio,

When I went back the wines I wanted had already gone. I might be getting some of the '98 Allegrini Amorone at the price quoted back in January.
