While some lesser Chtx have been in for awhile, looks like bigger names are trickling in. I just got word that my La Conseillante will be delivered this Friday and Grand Puy Lacoste is in next week. I doubt I'll be able to resist killing one off in the crib.

Alas, the majority of my half-decent wine was ordered in the form of 3-bottle lots from the LCBO (minimum was 3 bottles per LCBO policy, as was the maximum per my budget). However, I ordered more bottles of some cheapies, and the 3 that I have tried so far have not disappointed me. Already looking to pick up some more of at least 1 (Marsau), others (Pipeau, Puygueraud) were good also and good QPRs (compared to what we I am used to from the LCBO) but I prefer a little more structure/tannin (yes, tannin...the substance that most shun is one of my favourite qualities in vino, which makes my mouth water for my 05's). Tough to kill off one from the crib when there are only 3 of each variety, but got a pretty good idea of several of the big boys at the UGC tasting, so I think I can wait a while.

Contrary to my expectations, my lone infanticide of an 05 Pipeau proved to have very little value if not another appeal to "closed"ness! Smile

2005 Pipeau is a tannin monster. It needs an all day decant to tame.

Has anyone personally tried the '05 Lanessan? Just wondering, as it can be had for a reasonable price. Tom

48 hours since I opened it, it was much more open after 24 hours and tonight than it was initially, still a little bit of drying tannin on the finish, but I did not find this particularly tannic at all, Marsau was a lot more tannic. Pipeau still very nice tonight, certainly worth $31 in my book. More infanticide coming, but my love of tannin and lack of tasting experience/note writing will sadly result in little help provided to others. Tastes pretty good to me...

Nor should you. When my three odd mixed cases arrive, I'm going to crack one of each, take stupid-detailed notes over 24 hour decants, and let the rest slumber for a long time.

My local wine shop had a bottle open that I tried and it was very nice, even after being open almost a full week!

He has already started posting notes on them Irwin, and is surprised the '05 is not showing secondary nuances and balance yet.

Has anyone heard about the 2005 Pontet, I just got off of the phone with someone who stated that it will not arrive until November of this year?

I just got a notice from the LCBO. It looks like my Pontet magnums are in. I'll confirm tomorrow. I also have some 750s coming in, but no notice on those.

My Pavie Macquin is safe and sound ready for me to pick up and I just recieved an invoice for Trotanoy, Lynch Bages (mags) and Leoville Barton which is ready to ship. I honestly forget what else I ordered (Maybe Pichon and Ducru).

My 2005 Rieussec is going to be REALLY delayed. I think the delivery date is NEXT Spring or even early summer!

I usually crack a couple different bottles on release, but I only bought 3-6 bottles of each and they are all fairly high end so I will not be trying any of them until they are ready.

Did you get lucky enough to get a PM allocation on the first go around? Painful to see it re-released at $349.99....I ended up buying it from a US seller a bit over a year ago.

What did you pay for the Clerc if you don't mind me asking?

K&L carries the 05 Clerc Milon for $64.99. At this price, they will be sold out very soon.
