And what does sfiorare mean or stand for? Obviously, it's not a word. I've been trying to read it like I would read a personalized licence plate, but I still can make any sense out of sfiorare...other than sfio - rare...or SF (San Franscisco) io - rare. Can you please enlighten me?

It is Italian for "to graze".

i've made my living in the wine business since 1986... solo since 1998
also fine arts photography
my sales techniques with photography are near the same as with wine
wine: taste, buy or not... next photo: look....
but, i'm not accepting any new customers at this time
my motto: rareity not quantity

TO GRAZE: Seanr7? As in what cows do in the field, or when a bullet just scrapes the skin on its way by?

Thanx Sean, but I'd like sfiorare to confirm that. And another thing, sfiorare. I notice you did not particiate in the "How old are you" thread. Did you miss this thread? How old are you?

I thought it meant "close to" or "near to."
Just one more sip.

i've revealed various things about myself in various threads. I'm an importer / exporter of computer hardware. Basically I'm a middleman. Nobody likes a middleman. I tell all my suppliers "I'm here to minimize your losses" I tell all my customers "I can't afford to drop the price another dollar. I'm practically giving you my cost"

If I was to graze you that would be touching you lightly would it not?

No. Sfiorare had, and may still have, the email address dujac at hotmail dot com. I was wondering if dujac was his name. That's all. I was reading some of sfiorare's earlier posts, specifically in the 'tasting notes' section. The posts were and still are quite intelligent and informative. And I will say, sfiorare, your posting style has been quite consistent, although you seem a little more sarcastic and combative. Maybe it's your age I'm starting to enjoy more than 50% of your posts

I'm assuming "through alot" means "not good things". 'Cause if it meant "I won the lottery", then there's no reason to be so combative. Maybe I can cheer you up by selling you a computer hard drive? But there's one stipulation...you have to buy 1500 of them.

I was born in Italy and raised in Toronto, Canada. I now live in Woodbridge, but that's like moving from San Fran to Sausolito. My line of work has taken me to many US cities, but outside of Italy, Toronto is where my roots are.

Ah, northern Italy. Beautiful cities. I myself am from the south...waaaay south. Vancouver is beautiful too. The Okanagen Valley (i.e. Kelowna, Penticton) has landscape not unlike many southern Italy towns. Very picturesque. Easy to get to Vancouver. Fly to Seattle...then drive north.

romans like to say they taught the french how to eat with forks
i dealt with some vino farmers from sicily and puglia
the old guys drove hard bargains but would soften after they got to feel comfortable (years)
