Food was average, had to wait even with a reservation. Less than stunning experience.

Michael Mina
Absolutely stunning. Food was perfect. Service was impecable. The chef's tasting was a real treat. Not to miss this dinner.
Wine: Deux C Viogner - One barrel from Sanford and Benedict, One from condrieu. 95+....

Redd:
Very charming with friendly professional service. The food was quite elegant and a real pleasure.
Wine: Alban Roussanne - 93 pts, 1986 Phelps Eisele Cabernet in Magnum - Started with some funk which quickly blew off and a surprising fresh vigorious cab was left. Definitely Yummy + 94 pts.

French Laundry:
Perfect except a duck type course that reminded me of malabu chicken from Sizzler as a kid. Really exceptional. Really $$$$.
Wine: Lewis Chard 2003 - lovely really 93 pts
Melville Terraces Pinot 2003 - 93 pts
Alban Seymour's Syrah 2002 - 99 pts this is an amazing wine. WOW!!!

Wineries that stand out.
Martinelli: Private tasting. This is a class act. I've been buying for about 5 years and the new syrahs are incredible!!!

Robinson Family Vineyards: Super Nice People. Really personal and candid. The wine is fantastic from stags leap. No fancy tasting room or wine club. This is what wine should be about. I can't say enough nice things about this winery. Visit and buy all you can!!!

David Arthur: 5 hrs with Dave Long. Need I say more?!!!! This is my favorite saying of Dave's..."This is goin' to be SOOO fun....Let's taste some wine!!!" Next time you visit ask Dave about the Motorhome and the black water at tahoe!!!

Karl Lawrence: Ric is great. Fun visit to the property and then barrel taste at Sequoia Grove!!! I'm a convert to these guys!!! If your lucky enough to find any wine....buy it!

WesMar: Kirk and Denise are just awesome. Super nice people with a real passion for Pinot. The wines are great.

Schramsberg: We did a group tasting and that means tasting the wines in those really cool caves. Fun time. The bubblies are alway good. This time the Reserve stood out!!

Well that was a quick synopsis of our little trip. Pretty fun Wink

Ricky Bobby: Dear Lord Baby Jesus, I want to thank you for this wonderful meal, my two beautiful son's, Walker and Texas Ranger, and my Red-Hot Smokin' Wife, Carley
Carley Bobby: [raises hands] Woo!
Cal Naughton, Jr.: Mmmhmm!
Walker, Texas Ranger: Ow!

Hey,

WHen you were at David Arthur, did he have any of the 2004's in bottle?

Last time I was there, we only tasted the 2003's and his mailer is for the 2004s. Just curious as to what they are sampling these days.

Thanks!

Your experience at Slanted Door is unfortunate. While you always have to wait, even with a reservation, the food there is generally remarkable -- it is one of my favorite restaurants in the city.

KL/SG is my favorite stop in Napa, I'm really glad you had a good time there.
