My Whisperkool 3000 chilled my wine to 47 degrees and I could not shut it down by raising the thermostat level. I unplugged the machine and for 3 days temps have been at a nice 54 degrees. In the meantime a new thermostat is being shipped for me to install. I am just glad this happened in winter and not summer. The unit is 5 years old.

Since the thermostat effectively failed in the "run" state, wouldn't a summer failure actually have been better? Razz

The cooling function would have eventually exhausted itself and the machine itself would have been at risk. Better a failure in winter, when my wines are now being passively cooled, than in summer, when the lack of cooling ability might have cooked the whole enchilada.
