I'm a newbe to this forum (please don't jump to hard), and fairly new to wine drinking.I was wondering about wine coolers they all have the racks to lay the bottles down, what if it has been openned. Is there coolers where you can stand them up? Suggestions?

thanks

The regular fridge is usually fine for 1-2 days for a wine that has been opened. Just be sure to take it out a couple of hours before you plan on drinking it.

you might want to buy an inexpensive screw cap 375 bottle of wine. once it is empty and when you open a new bottle, pour half in the empty 375, close it up tight and stick it in your cellar or fridge. it should hold up pretty darn well for the next day or two. i've been doing this lately and has turned out to be a great way to keep from wasting wine i don't drink the night before.

Whew!

When I saw the subject, I thought he was talking about those Bartles and Jaymes type things they sold way back when. Smile

Funny you should mention that. Someone left three bartles & james fuzzy navels in my ice chest after the easter dinner. Any takers? Probably a good vintage. Wink

Are you offering them for free or do you want something in trade? I have a case of 1982 Haut Brion that I might be willing to trade.

I've noticed that the Bartles & Jaymes drinks aren't even called "wine coolers" anymore, but "malt beverages" (read the fine print). They don't even put wine in them anymore!

More on topic, I'm just now finishing off the 2nd half of a Brancott Chard that I stored in a 375 bottle in the fridge. It actually tastes better than the 1st half did... but that's b/c I made the mistake of keeping the original bottle in the fridge, so that when I opened it, it was too cold.

Anyway, I agree with the half-bottle storage method described above.

Good luck!
