Who's crossing over to the "dark side," to post on the WS boards with the "stuffy crowd." I don't mean those folks who have been dragged over to defend GaryV's honor (but you're welcome to sound off), but folks who started on WLTV's boards, and have migrated over here, strictly for the wine talk.
Me, I'm a WS guy, but probably fit better over on WLTV. But, as I'm not much for hero worship (rampant on the WLTV boards), I largely remain here. Plus, I've met some great people (W+A, Een, KSC02, Stefaniawine, VinoMe, Otis, Grossie, Primordialsoup, Messo. . .et al.) here.
Just wanted to get your impressions Vaynernation. What do you get over here that you don't get "there?"
Out,

INDy u are awesome sooooo awesome but I just want to jump in here and say 1 thing, there are so many peeps out there that think wine stinks or is stupid ect....I think we are ALL awesome( I know u do too ) and think that if you like Ebob or winedepot or WCWN or Wineaccess or WLTV forum od this awesome forum it doesn't matter at all and I know that it wasn't you intention but I just want to jump in now and make sure this doesn't become an us vs them as it has in many many forums. I have been in forums since 1996 and I just really hope that where ever you hang out that you respect others. Bottom line is we are one BIG( but small) wine family and I am proud to be a part of it and will never be upset or put off by words because I know that no one has bad intentions.
Rock on man. We've had more Vayniacs participating on the WS boards recently, and want to get a taste for why they're over here. It's fine with me, but aside from giving you props, I want to know what might be lacking in the discourse on WLTV (hey, that can only help you right?).
I have respect for everyone (well, most), and agree that WLTV, EBOB, WS bashing is very, very non-productive.
Cheers,

Well, you know if you get a canker sore how you have to keep touching it with your tongue, even though you know it'll hurt a bit? It's that same inevitable masochism that forced me to open this thread.
Just one more sip.

Hey Gary, my '05 Secret de Cardinale arrived the other day. Going to open one this weekend and see what all your fuss was about. I'm thinking 2-3 hour decant?

I have been over at WLTV since inception but recently have been spending more time over at Squires as well. The reason I spend time there is because of the wine makers and education that goes on constantly. I originally came here to jump into the "defend Gary" mix but now that I'm on multiple boards, I kinda want to stay.

I actually post on all 3 (ebob, WS and WLTV) equally. I was a lurker on all of them for a while and in late Dec/Early Jan of this year I joined.
I think they all have their (different) value and learn something from each one.
Outstanding Yonster!
Now, the million dollar question, what appeals to you with each of them?
Hmmmm....If I had to put it into words...
Ebob: It's great as their are a ton of "winemakers" on the board always sharing info and I love just reading and learning from them. No matter what the question is, they are always helping each other and I get to learn a lot from listening to them.
Also, there are a ton more offlines in my area (L.A.) on Ebob for some reason than anywhere else. One idea they have as well going right now is a "virtual tasting" where Cali Syrah is the theme. Everyone will open a bottle of Syrah this weekend and post the notes on the board. I think that is pretty cool.
WS: There is such a myriad of different and experienced people on here it's good to read and learn. I think out of all the boards I maybe "identify" with the people on here the most and have a bit of an easier interaction with them.
WLTV: Those guys are great, and they seem to help each other out a lot. Whatever the question is everyone has a good time and knows their stuff.
The only knock is a little bit of the (like you said) "hero worship". I love Gary as well and watch the show and this is no knock on him or them, I just don't feel as connected to him as some others do.
Then again, I feel that way about some of my own family, so take that for what you will.
