It is impossible for me to go to K&L without spending more than I planned on Red Face ... this happened to me over the weekend -- mostly just cellar-defenders, but a nice Syrah and a nice Touriga did find their way into my basket: Razz

2003 La Closerie de Fourtet
2003 Château Couhins-Lurton
2003 Château Greysac
2005 Château Doisy-Védrines (375 mL, x2)
2005 Gérard Seguin Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes
2005 Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Côtes du Rhône Lieu-Dit Clavin
1997 Domaine Fontanel Rivesaltes Ambré Vin Doux Naturel
2004 Hill Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
2005 Lagier Meredith Syrah
2005 Quinta do Vallado Touriga Nacional Douro

at about the same time the wife was busy picking-up:
2004 Agrícola Falset-Marça Montsant Falset Old Vines
2005 d'Arenberg Shiraz The Dead Arm (I hope Harvey got this one dead wrong)
2006 Vinos Piñol Terra Alta Sacra Natura - Organic

very solid QPR pick with the Razor's Edge ... one of the very few Aussie shirazes around that price point that are worth drinking.

She has good taste as the 2000 Falset was one of the best Spanish wines I've ever had.

really? I'm a bit surprised by this ... I had a mere taste of this the other evening and it tasted awfully grapey. There was a nice element of old-world funk as well as wet earth, but it seemed a bit too sweet to me. That being said, it was only a 1 or 2 oz. pour. I've reserved judgment for later this evening, when the bottle can be finished off and the wine has had ample opportunity to open.
