I just purchased some 2000 Bordeaux's from an internet wine dealer and noticed that the wine level was 5/16 in. below the capsule on all the bottles. I had read it should be about an 1/8 below and more could indicate the wine was stored improperly. Should I be concerned if I was planning on storing the wine for at least 5 to 10 years?

Judging from the advice I have received off of this discussion board, I would say you don't have anything to worry about. If you are worried about leakage, see if the capsules spin. Just b/c they do not spin does not mean that the bottle has leaked, but it might be worth a shot to investigate further.

I wouldn't worry about it, fill level varies depending on the length of foil as there is no universal standards.

well it's 3/16from the one that is 1/8, but i just didn't know if that was a big deal. are you saying that 1/4 is the norm? any info is helpful and these wines were a bit expensive.
