Am I blind, or is there really not a thread on this yet?
What's everyone popping this weekend? Anything special? Haven't made a decision on our end yet, but I am sure tomorrow will be filled with sauv blancs and chards in the afternoon at the "Hilltop," and some reds of some sort in the evening. Curious to see what everyone else plans on drinking! -mJ "It's a black fly in your chardonnay..." -Alanis Morrisette Jersey Foodies/Wine Blog: http://jerseyfoodies.blogspot.com/ |

Plan on bringing a few wines from the U.S.A.
2006 Curran Grenache Blanc 2005 Seghesio Sonoma Old Vine Zinfandel 2004 Kaena "Hapa" (Syrah/Grenache) and maybe a pinot gris from Oregon. My friend is going to bring some Kosta Browne, probably the Rose and the 2005 Sonoma Pinot. |

2005 Ex Umbris Syrah
2005 Schild Estate Shiraz Would like to do all USA, but with my leg, I am at the mercy of what is easiest to remove from my Eurocave (I really need to organize that thing better). Lucked out with these being accesible since they should be okay with the bbq and other grilled foods we are having. |

Lentini's fun Pinot vs. Pinot taste-offs has me opening some American Pinot this weekend. Most likely an '04 Calera Jenson Vineyard and an '04 Shea Shea Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard Estate!
Thanks Lentini Quickly, bring me a beaker of wine, so that I may wet my mind and say something clever. - Aristophanes foodandwineblog.com |

My folks are coming up from Iowa. We are going to grill out. 2003 Ridge Lytton Springs Zin, which is much better than the disappointing 04. 2004 Turley Dusi Vineyard Paso Robles Zin. For some posssible infanticide I'm going to open a 2003 Domaine de la Mordoree La Reine Des Bois Chateauneuf Du Pape. Of which I have six bottles. Parker says it's drinking well young he gave it 96 pts but Iv'e had alot of Parker disappointing reviews lately as too quality and drinking windows.

mpls,
Agree on the Ridge Lytton. It's a very nice zin. Have fun. -IB PSA: Please report gratuitous trolling/flaming immediately (little triangle at bottom right). |

Plan on opening up two bottles, so far I have decided on a 1998 Mondavi Reserve Cab. I am not sure on the other bottle yet, going to play around on cellartarcker and narrow it down.

Actually nothing for the 4th, but going to a cookout at my sister's on Saturday and will be taking a couple of 2001 Sebastiani Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Appellation Selection Alexander Valley (at her request) to go with steak.
I think I will also take a 2002 Roar Syrah Santa Lucia Highlands just for the fun of it. When in doubt, open another bottle. |

Nothing today but am going to do a little wine/food pairing Sunday since my family is in town. I know we are opening an 05 Chasseur Sangiacomo Chard and an 04 Melchor cab...trying to figure out what else I'll throw in.

Had the Chasseur for the 2nd time this year. Great stuff. I've found that at least 1 hour of air really allows for all the flavors to develop.

I am trying not to buy any wine until September 1. I spend too much money on wine and need to take a breather. It should be 58 now, but I haven't updated it yet. I |

Thanks. I am very nosy. So the wine buying occupies your mind more than the cast coming off? |
