Where did you find '85 Sass for less than $100? I will be in Italy in 2 weeks.

At the Woodland Hills Wine Co. tasting bar:

2005 Ch. Pradeaux Bandol Rose
2004 Ramey Chardonnay Sonoma Coast
2004 Ramey Chardonnay RRV
2003 Ramey Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard
...and Board-O's fave, the '03 Ramey Chard Hyde Vineyard.

The two '04s tasted exactly the same to me, showing the winemaker's "house style" with lots of toast & baked pear tart. I rarely go for that style of wine, although they were certainly well-made.

The '03 single-vineyard Chards were more elegant and acidity-driven. Both seemed like they could use some cellar time for the acidity to settle down.

I liked the Hyde bottling the best. Smile

I'm really not a big Chardonnay guy, but it was 107 degrees in Woodland Hills, I was really in the mood for white wine, and the Rameys were what was on hand. Cool
