I am sure all of us will post notes and opinions but:
If you visit Montreal and don't call Escape and Steve8 you are committing a wine crime. We had a great time tasting and observing the scenery and eating the great food at the Time Supper Club in Montreal!! Thanks to Mark (Escape), our host, and Steve8, for a great night! Regards, DBW$ - Tn's as much as we remember to follow! |

Agreed. It was a great evening with super wines and excellent food. I will definitely go back to the Time Supper Club. As for the TN's, they won't be very detailed but the Neal Family CS was amazing. It was good to meet you dbw4 and get to know Escape a little better.

I have always enjoyed having or being a part of tasting groups, but this was my first time to enjoy an off-line with fellow forumites. Outstanding company and a great opportunity to crack open some wines that are enjoyed best when shared.
I mention this because (special thanks to DRAB for trading with dbw4) DBW4 was king enough to bring along with him his 2001 Neal Cabernet. To steal the words from Steve8....WOW!!!!!!! I can honestly say that I have never had a cab like this one. All three of us are anxious to get more, trade, buy, whatever, forumites let me know. Also cracked a 2000 d'Arenberg Dead Arm and a 2000 Clos du Marquis. Order of highest rating (and incidentally the order in which we drank them)would be: Neal d'Arenberg Clos du Marquis (although I still think that the two hours it had to open was not enough) After speaking with dbw4 I was interested in combining the green olive underpining with a tuna puttanesca which my chef provided for us. d'Arenberg was nicely offset with a delicious bowl of "fat" blackberries. Neal with seared beef but was fantastic standing alone. With a small drop left in the glass it radiated one of the most fantastic bouquets I have had the pleasure to enjoy. Too bad glade doesn't make it as a room scent! Thanks to all, Steve8 and dbw4 and our wine philathropist DRAB for sharing a most enjoyable night. Come back any and all of you! Tasting notes to follow some time soon. |

it was a great way to celebrate my 200th post, my addition to the cellar making my collection a nice rounded number of 300 and a bottle of Neal down the gullet. Life is GOOOOOOOOOD!

you mentioned that you were going to Chicago. When is that trip planned? I noticed in this month's issue that the Wine Store there is running prices on 6 packs and I was wondering if you were interested in splitting something.

I'm in awe that my bottle of Neal made it all the way to Canada. I'm glad you all enjoyed it! It's a pretty "balls to the wall" kind of wine. Sounds like a great time. Wish I could have been there. I LOVE Montreal!
Hey DBW4....Looks like I'm going to be in State College PA Aug. 6-8 or so. One of my best friends is getting married and I'm in the wedding. How far are you from there? Cheers, -DRAB So much wine.....so little time!!! |

Far. Like, - 150 miles. State college is the center of the state - deer country!
However - all 4 boys are away at overnight camp this summer, and a mini-road trip is a good idea....... Please advise. DBW PS - I told you you were part of the offline by proxy!! The legend grows........ |

Likewise to you guys....
If you're ever down the San Francisco way, just give a holler! There are plenty of us that would be happy to do some hosting! DBW4...If it's that far, no need to go out of the way! We may be tied up with wedding events all weekend anyway, but I'll keep you posted just in case.... Cheers all! So much wine.....so little time!!! |
