I will be visiting a few Willamette Valley wineries soon and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for places to ship wine back to the East Coast.

I envision myself buying less than case quantities and want to secure a reliable and cost efficient shipper.

I saw a similar post about shipping within CA from Napa and was wondering if anyone had similar suggestions for OR.

Thanks!

What is the total amount that you anticipate buying? If it is no more than two or three cases, you might want to consider purchasing shipping boxes at one of the wineries and then taking them back yourself a checked baggage.

Agree with Sharkey. Tape styrofiam shippers closed and check them as baggage. If security opens them, they'll tape them up well.

Just one more sip.

My experience is that security ALWAYS opens them. It must be a curiosity thing. However, as Board-O states, they tape them up well. I've never had any problems -- even when taking cases for customer gifts internationally.

Don't be so sure. I just came back from Mexico last week, and when I opened my suitcase at home I discovered that TSA or whoever had opened all my (OTC) medication bottles and just dumped the contents inside the case. Tablets broke and made quite a mess. Mad

Sorry to hear that. I've had styro shippers opened by security twice and they taped the boxes up just fine when they were done. Maybe I was just lucky.

Just one more sip.

My experience is the same as Board-O's. I've had case shippers opened three times (every time I've taken one): once to Chile last year, to Oregon last month and then on the return from Oregon. Every time, the box was securely retaped.
