I find it interesting that so many are voting for Cheval Blanc.

While I have had several near perfect C-B, ('49) I find Cheval Blanc disappoints more often than many of the high-end Bordeaux.

I rarely if ever find Las Cases disappoints, and consider it equal to many First Growths.

Just my opinion. Smile

I agree with you regarding LLC. A spectacular Producer. But so is the CB and, to me, it is something 'out of the ordinary'. Often romantic in taste and body. My posting reflected the better 'sale pricing'. It is indeed a fantastic price for this bottle.

Meanwhile admittedly, if forced to pick a date, side-by-side between the two, my heart will usually swing to the CB.

LOL, what cheese to pair it with. Them are good apples.

I think Kraft Sharp cheddar will work with the Hillside extremely well. I think it's aged for 40 days.

Probably so, I haven't had as much C-B but the fact is that wine is the best buy at the price.

As far as what is most pleasing to drink... another story.

I agree and would add Ausone to that statement.

Just one more sip.

Berno why not buy the 2001 Haut Brion which I think Binnys is selling for about $150. Ready to drink sooner and you save a few dollars. Otherwise I would grab the CB....

Very true, I'd have a small 1999 first growth horizontal going.

Just re-checked and the 2001 Haut Brion is now $275....bummer. The 1999 is on sale for $175, and that's very nice.
