Corked wines are, unfortunately, a hazard of our hobby. I thought it would be interesting if we could keep a running log of corked wines that we stumble across during the year. My first corked wine of the year: 1992 Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Reserve. (BIG bummer Stay thirsty my friends.

Actually, the end of 2012, but we had two corked wines at our final wine group dinner of the year. 1994 Rol Valentin 2000 Clerc Milon (mine) “Appreciating old wine is like making love to a very old lady. It is possible. It can even be enjoyable. But it requires a bit of imagination.” Andre Tchelistcheff

Last Week 99' Gruaud Larose was cooked, not corked. Regardless, it sucked. ------------- Say NO to Shiraz!

2006 Tenuta Sette Ponti Crognolo 2006 Domaine Le Soula The cork on the le Soula was as soaked as I've ever seen. Both were in my offsite cellar since release. In Canada? Really? Duties in?

2 bottles so far this year... out of 6! 2003 Domaine de la Vougeraie Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Marconnets (massive seepage as well) 2001 Domaine du Vieux Lazaret Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Exceptionnelle (more likely Brett than corked) Although my sample size of flawed wine has been (thankfully) small, I've noticed that a higher percentage of French wines tend to be affected. Also that wines >5-7 yrs or so tend to have a higher failure rate than younger wines. What trends do you see in your flawed wine?

Poopy. And odd seeing that the '85 Gilette was probably bottles within the last couple of years... I think they are bottling the 1988 & '89 now? In Canada? Really? Duties in?

Isn't this under screwcap? Corked isn't cooked. ________________________ If you're young and conservative, you have no heart. If you're old and liberal, you have no brain. Apostrophes don't make things plural.
