What? So having children means that you can't enjoy your life and take cross country trips? It's what you make of it buddy.

Guys, I live good and go out plenty and believe me - I owe Pyang a return trip, but I'd have to be solo and It's tough in the next few months. I am NOT taking my 2 and 3 year olds to Napa. No way. Those that have real "little tots" here understand. I also own my own business that needs me here right now, and we are remodeling the house through the summer. All good things, but all things that must keep in NY for a while.

Maybe next year Bella Donna would like to be our "Alice" from the Brady Bunch, come with us and watch them all week - or we can drop them off in Arlington. Smile

Put 'em on Metro-north and we can watch them for the week. Maybe substitute grandkids will keep my mother and mother-in-law quiet for at least a few more months. Roll Eyes

What was the release price? I think it was $165
Is Costco buying wines from collectors and then reselling at a higher price? or did they just got these directly from the winery inventory?

Move to the UK then. I just called in the CostCo at Trafford Park. Theyve got 1998 Sassicaia at GBP80+VAT, also 2000 Leoville Las Cases at the same price. There's an imperial of 1989 Mouton - god knows how long it's been there. And a large selection of 199x French stuff - 97 Reserve De La Comtesse, 98 Talbot, 99 Guiraud in splits, etc. I didn't buy anything as the exchange rate stinks but it was interesting to see what the UK gets. There was also a huge amount of 1998 Penfolds Bin 407 for under a tenner.

The price on the 98 Grange is wrong. Definitely must be wrong.
The price on the 01 Ausone must be also wrong.
Maybe, both are $199.97,
or there is something wrong in the IL Costo's.
or they are damage and they just want to get rid of them which I doubt due to their good return policy.

LOL...I've been lurking and reading posts for a while, but I had to register to reply. This is truly one of the funniest things I have read in a while. Thanks for the laugh...

Nah, it's correct Orlando. The Grange I did't see myself but it was there last week and now it isn't and I was talking to the liquor manager today and that's where he said it went - last thursday.

The Lafleur is correct - saw it with my own eyes - bottles are pristine, corks are perfect, no signs of leakage - everything legit.

Same with Ausone - perfect and legit.

I would have bought the Grange if I saw it - the others, if I had more disposable income I would buy also.

Incidentally, the manager told me a little tip - not sure if you know this already, but when you look at the prices in Costco, if the price ends in $.97 (as opposed to $.99) that is the internal store code for a wine that has been discounted from its normal Costco price.

The 2001 Ausone is a must buy at $100. I believe it usually retails for around $300. $100 is an absolute steal for a RP98 "wine of the vintage" right bank Bordeaux with a production of around 1500 cases that year.

No...I wish I had his income though! I do live in the state of Texas, just not Dallas or Rockport. I live in Austin.

Today at Lincoln Park:

Many wines, too many to list completely, but the ones on closeout (using TVG's tip):

Steltzner 2002 Cab $19.97
D'Arenberg Coppermine Rd Cab 2002 $29.97

I bought 8 Steltzners, to me this is a terrific $20 bottle, and would be a great $30 bottle too. I didn't buy any coppermine roads, though I had one in my hand and debated it for a while.

*******
This IS next year!
