Totally NWR, but I bought a cheap Daewoo DVD player at Costco last year. I don't remember what I paid, but it was probably about $40. The damn thing died within the year so I took it back. The guy took one look at me and said "I'll need the remote and the A/V cables" - I'd forgotten them. Came back the following day and saw the same bloke. He asked if I had the receipt - no, sorry.

He went off and came back a few minutes later and said "I can only give you $45 for it". And he never even asked what was wrong with it. He gave me a store credit, which I promptly spent on wine Smile

CostCo is the BEST. Unfortunately they didn't have any replacement DVD players that I wanted, so I ended up going to Best Buy.

little thread drift here, but Costco really is the best. My friend buys a water trampoline that we anchored in front of our cottages for our kids to play on. Storm comes along blows it away never to be found , this trampoline is like 7' in diameter. It is big. Any way we return the empty box to Costco and explain we followed the directions when anchoring the trampoline and it blew away, bad directiond ineffective instructions blah blah Complete refund!.

Naperville Costco rarely has stuff I'd consider drool material. I check it about twice a week and haven't really bought anything for a while. Right now the bins are filled with overpriced Kim Crawford SB ($16.95), Franciscan CS ($19.99) and just other random stuff that doesn't interest me. The only thing I saw that really peaks my interest is the D'Arnberg Coppermine Road 2000 at $49 a bottle - not what I would call a screaming deal either.

Just wanted to say that I hate all of you. We do not have Costcos in Oklahoma and I am jealous. Does not seam fair for you all to keep rubing my nose in the fact that I do not have one. Razz

Seanr7,

Why don't you come down to the Dallas area and offline with us here? There are 3 Costco's within an approx. 30 mile radius that sells a good selection of wine most of the time if everything good isn't sold out.

We have them here, but there's only one that sells wine and it just started selling it about 4 months ago. I feel your jealousy!

sean, send me an email at jdd_044(at)hotmail(dot)com and I'll add your email address to our distribution list. That way you'll always know when our events are being held. zinner/corky is on the list already and shows up when he can or when he has to pick up wine from us enablers.

I feel rather privileged. There are eight Costcos within 30-40 minutes of my house, including a "business" oriented one, and a "home" furniture store. Cool

Anybody ever heard of Chateau Teynac?

Saw the '00 in local Costco today for 23.79. Didn't want to buy knowing nothing about it. I did miss out on the 2000 gold-rush though so I figure this might be my chance to get some.

A net search didn't turn up much either. Confused

Chateau Teynac

I'm not familiar with it, but it looks like it is sold more in the UK and the EU than in the States.

If you're looking for a "low cost" 2000 Bordeaux, you may want to try:

Chateau d'Aiguihe - Cotes de Castillon WS 90pts
Clos l'Eglise - Cotes de Castillon WS 90pts

You can find these on Wine-Searcher.com $28-35

Both are terrific and you can drink them now...

At the Costco on Butterfield in Downer's Grove:

2000 Quinto do Noval "Silval" - $28.95 per

94 points Wine Spectator: "Superdark and powerful. Shows raisin, spice, coffee and violet aromas. Full-bodied, very chewy, with lots of grip and loads of fruit. Very long in the mouth. Super value. Best after 2012." (02/03)

This is a great buy - the regular bottling scored a 96 but is in some cases 2-3 times the price. I bought a couple of these the other day at $35 a bottle and thought I did OK. I might go back and get a couple more at this price.

How I wish that Costco in Canada would be allowed to carry wine.

I had a little time to kill this afternoon so I went on a Costco spree:

Location #1: quite a few good QPRs but nothing special
1235 South Power Road
Mesa, Arizona 85208
United States

Location #2: Horrible, this Costco was inside a small shopping mall...nothing worth going to this one for
1646 W. Montebello
Phoenix, Arizona 85015
United States

Location #3: The jackpot! I have never seen a bigger selection of wine ever before in a Costco's (but I haven't visited any of the Cali locations) Great combination of QPRs and a few special bottles.
15255 North Hayden Road
Scottsdale, Arizona 85260
United States

Bella Donna,

Not to pick on you, but I think you missed the point of this here thread. It is to tell us what SPECIFIC wines you found. Simply telling us - JACKPOT - Tons of good stuff here!, does not really help.

Care to elaborate?
