Wow! The Tustin Costco is "closing out" the Mondavi Reserve magnums at $179.97, only $20 less than original price. I thought they would have some consistency in pricing.

Has anyone seen any 2006 Bordeauxs show up at their local Costco's yet?
I've received about 4-5 email notifications that many of the 2006's are starting to ship out.

Additionally, the Mondavi Reserve at Tustin and other local stores is the mediocre 2000! The close outs in OC have been a joke lately – 20% tops. Other areas are 30 - 50%. I visit my parents 2 – 3 times per year in Northern Cal and routinely find great deals.

I have an extra mag of 01 Mondavi Reserve if anyone wants and can't find it at their local Costco. I picked up 2.

$129.97 + tax (+ ship, unless you're in SoCal). Not looking for more.

gotapex, I'm in OC and interested in one of the 2001s if available. I'd also like to pick up one of fugosaks 2000s at $90/bottle. Email me at xhoser@yahoo.com

Interestingly, their website seems out of date. http://www.costco.com/Service/...x?ProductNo=10045096I've returned wine before, and they didn't blink an eye. That was awhile ago though.

Saw the '08 Cloudy Bay SB at Everett Costco last night. I believe it was at $20.99, but I wasn't there for wine, so didn't pick up any. Maybe next time.

I successfully returned some wine to the Tustin store recently. They did inform me future returns of wine will not be accepted.

Costco in St. Louis Park has 2006 Mitolo GAM for $29.99. I think I paid around $45.00 the first time I purchased it. They have a good 3-4 cases too.

Tip: the high volume Costcos will give you a much harder time.
What are any of these statements based on?

According to the below link, California law basically prohibits the return of wine without a receipt. http://www.abc.ca.gov/FORMS/ABC608.pdf36. Returns by Consumers to Retailers A consumer cannot overbuy for a party and then return any of the unused alcoholic beverages. Neither can the recipient of a gift exchange it for other merchandise or be given a credit, because the recipient is not returning alcoholic beverages; if the retailer gave anything of value for the beverages, the retailer would be buying from other than a wholesaler. Sales to consumers are final except as previously set forth. The Department and federal law agree in this respect.(Sec. 25600(a)(2))

I guess I'm really trying to understand the statement that high volume stores will give you a much harder time. Why?

I think the answer is knowledge of the wine and the law. Larger stores usually have someone specifically assigned to the wine department who is in charge of matters pertaining to the sale and return of wine. Smaller venues lack such “expertise” and often treat wine like any other product.

Got this email response from Costco: Dear [ ], Thank you for your e-mail to Costco Wholesale. Wine orders are shipped in special packaging and do not include the original wood case even when purchasing a full case of the wine. Thank you, [rep name] Costco Wholesale Corporation
