Yeah, local is Foster City, Ca. But Redwood City/Mountain View are within striking range.

Sorry about that! Should have named it directly.

Saw about 12-14 bottles today at the Foster City Costco. I am sure a buy/ship program could be offered if someone really wants to pick some of these up.

2005 Duhart in San Diego/Morena Blvd 47.99 about 1 case.
Also 2005 Pavillon Rouge for around $69, also about a case, no wood.

They still have plenty of 05 Pichon Lalande for too much money (149ish), and some Cru Bourgeoise in 3L OWC that looks cool if nothing else!

At the Everett Costco today:
2003 Northstar Merlot 1.5lt. $69.99
Didn't think to look if this was the Columbia Valley or Walla Walla bottling. Decent price either way. There were 3 of these, but the wife was looking over my shoulder, so I passed. First time I've seen a mag of anything there, ever.

There are plenty at Foster City and Redwood City Costco but they are all 2004 and not 2005. The label says same price for 2005 and 2004 but only 2004 are in bin.

I didn't look at the year the last trip in - as I bought a bottle located in the same bin and it was a 2005, I merely assumed it was the same 2005's in there.

I'll check back over the next day or so when I go in for my fix and report back.

I can't believe how many large format bottles the Santa Clara Costco had! A whole shelf of huge bottles, making the magnums look small!

Thanks,
Peter

Wow Clos Apalta at Costco Foster City? I'm on it. Still a great value, even on the 2004 (93pts).

Costco's got some great values.

Tons of the '04 Clos Apalta at Novato Costco, as well as a very impressive array of '05 Bordeaux

Costco.com has a ton of 2005 Bordeaux on line now - Mouton, Angelus, Palmer etc....all at same prices as in store.

Cheers!

The prices of those 2005 Bordeaux Costco has on line actually beats their in-store ones, even after shipping. This is at least true for the prices we have in Portland, OR area. The only restriction is they only ship to WA, CA, OR and NM.

Phoenix, AZ at the cave creek and 101 store there were many closeouts. Dominus Estate 2004 @ 69.97, St Clement Oroppas 2005 @ 29.97 and several others. Unfortunately their closeout prices are not nearly as good as they used to be.

I don't think I have ever seen a 'closeout' at Costco. Do they specify them as closeout wines? That Dominus Estate would not last long with me around.

I might be wrong but I don't think they advertise "closeouts". I think, though, that when something is priced at "$xx.97" (ending in 97 cents) that's the sign that is in fact a closeout price.

Yeah, 97 cents is the clue that its a closeout. Just talk to your wine guy at your local costco. They are very honest about it. They'll tell you what the price was etc. and even how much they have etc. Lately they had been very aggressive with their closeouts and pricing them at just under half of what they were selling them for. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you dont. Keep an eye on the date on the price tag. That will let you know when they set the new prices out. Most are on a one week cycle.

Beware the shelf-talker at Costco for the following wine:

2006 Laetitia Pinot Noir Estate ($21.49, #306512)

The shelf talker says it was rated WE95 points. Guess what, that score is for a different wine:

2006 Laetitia Pinot Noir Reserve

Don't get burned.

In addition to the 2004 Dominus mentioned by desertwineguy (I picked up a couple), the Phoenix/Cave Creek & 101 store has quite a large supply of the 2005 Columbia Crest Reserve Cab if anyone's looking for some ($19.89).
