We do have some of the highest alcohol taxes nationwide in SC, but that probably does not explain the large increase from the 04 to the 05 vintage.

2005 Chateau Latour Pauillac at the Garden Grove Costco. I think it was around $689/bottle. I would have bought some but my pockets aren't that deep.

They also had 2005 Rouget and 2005 Pipeau for the more cost conscious.

Mathieu Perrin of Beaucastel hosted a table at the Carlsbad store yesterday and he signed my bottle. Nice deal.

Must have gone fast. It looked like they had at least half a case in the pick-up area when I was there.

Novato Costco has about 12 different '05 Bordeaux's in stock including several medium/high end bottles:

Pavie
Palmer
Smith Haut Lafite
Canon La G.
Etc.

A ton of bottles in stock and ready to roll.

Never had been to the Waltham one before so thanks for the heads up. Here are some of the things that I noticed

(1) Jackson Triggs Vidal Icewine 06 187ml, 15.99
(2) 05 Clos du Marquis $57.

Few bordeaux out the day I was there but lots of holiday shoppers out.

Costco.com has the 2004 Caro...really nice wine from South America reduced from the mid-30's to $19.97...93 points in WA.

Shipping sorta kills the deal for me - nearly 5/bottle.

Went to Novato to see they now have 40+ 2005 Bordeaux's, totaling a few hundred cases on the floor. This is the biggest Bordeaux collection I have seen at one Costco.

rho, anything stand out to you from your visit to Novato other then the sheer mass? New arrivals or similar?

I was there 1.5 weeks ago to pick up some Barton, Canet, etc.

Yes, they are the 05 Pavillon Blanc for $75.99 and the 05 Canon LG for $83.99. SoCal carries the Canon LG for $96.99 and I have not seen the Pavillon Blanc at any other Costcos.
The Barton and the Canet are gone as well as most of the Paulliac. The wine guy told me someone buys Bordeaux wines there by the pallet(not palate) to ship overseas.

I recall him mentioning the same thing to me. I believe said purchaser spent $30,000 a few days before I picked up my Bartons and Canets.

It boggles my mind as to how much volume that Costco does. I have never seen as much inventory sit on the floor waiting for a good home. I am glad I am within striking distance! But my bank account frowns on frequent trips.

Anyone seen 2005 Ausone at any Costco? Recall seeing a post somewhere that a Costco manager was trying to offload a case. Thanks

Yes, the Concord Costco has (had) it for 49.99. I just picked one up three days ago and there was only one more, but well hidden underneath another 05 bordeaux (can't remember which one). Sorry, no ID number.

Negative on the Ducru!!

I ventured into the costco in Pentagon City, thinking that there still would be some Ducru left. Turns out their computer states there are two cases at $189.00. Unfortunately upon further review no one can locate them. Inventory issue or an inside job?
