If y'all are finding 2005 Don Melchor for 50 bones, grab it. I tried it at the WS Grand Tour thingy and it was kickin' juice.

And, no '05 Bordeaux in Indiana yet. Sigh,

I haven't been a fan of this wine in the past, but this year is outstanding. I thinks it's better than the 2003.

I could not agree more. I was at the Grand Tour thingy too in Vegas and thought that the Melchor was the best ever period. It is juice to sit up and take notice of.

Good to hear, and hope you had a good time. Past versions I've tried have been on the oaky side for me. The 2005 had fantastic balance, I can't wait to get some for the cellar, and the little cooler at home. Big Grin

At Costco in Brighton, Michigan I picked these up today:

2004 Chateau Margaux $189
2004 Chateau Mouton Rothschild $143
1998 Chateau Haut-Brion $299

Not GREAT deals but the 04 CM(93WS) released at $220 and is current auction at $278; 04 CMR (93WS) released at $185 and current auction at $206; and 98 CHB (97)WS) released at $193 and current auction at $416.

This particular Costco seems to take decent care of their bottles (of course unsure of transit and where they were before etc.) and the climate in the wine area is pretty sound.

You might be too late, Caronne St Gemme left my Costco about 2-3 months ago.

Lizard,

Turns out I wasn't too late as Irvine Costco has 500 bottles on hand at $13.99. I picked up a case today. They still have Cos D'Estournel at $183.99. I would love to find some of those 2004 first growth deals that others were finding in Arizona Costco's.

2000 J.M. Fuentes Priorat Gran Clos (Parker 93, WS 92), $43.99; Bought one bottle at Tustin II last Friday, great stuff. Went back Sunday, bin was already empty. Found some at Aliso Viejo today (a rare second chance at Costco). Took a dozen, still 8 left. Opened a bottle tonight... awesome... even better. 30-90 year old garnacha vines; Balanced, big and with a few years behind it to smooth out the edges.

Also Tustin II, 2003 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle (Parker 95, WS 96), $130.99, Bin label gave 2004 score which was WS 92, but the bottles are 2003.
